This poster made my day!

While walking back to my ward after a quick bite for lunch, I walked past the main foyer. Yes the one past the main Pharmacy underneath the tunnel walking along in front of Secret Recipe - previously Delifrance. There was an exhibition there about rare diseases with poster educating people about them. However, the translation of Rare Disease into Malay was rather too literal. Read it yourself .......

Walkabout with my 400D

Idlan unfortunately developed temperature this morning. The initial plan was to go up the hill to Colmar Tropicale for a spot of sightseeing. We therefore spend the morning at home. I had the chance to watch the Grammies. Quite a glittering affair. Black Eyed Peas really rocked the house with 'I got a feeling'. The flop was definitely Taylor Swift. If she were to sing like that in front of Simon Cowell, she would've been booted out. Where was Kanye when you really needed him. I couldn't believe she won 'Album of the Year'!

The now legendary fake blossomI also woke up with a spot of glee. United comprehensively schooled the Arsenal at their backyard last night. An important win. We were now only a point behind Chelsea who will be traveling to Hull midweek to play their game in hand. I started Idlan on antibiotics and by late morning he was much better. But not after puking his breakfast out. After lunch, I decided to take my 400D out and head out to Bukit Bintang area to take pics. I also had to settle the credit card bill at a branch of UOB there - unfortunately the teller machine broke down, so I can't pay. I fully expect to hear from one of their telephone operator tomorrow to remind me to pay, during which I will remind them to fix their machine.

Heading towards Starbucks for some mochaThe main foyerI started off at the main entrance of Pavilion and around the fountain. The weather was very sunny and the lighting was rather tricky. The photos looked washed out and flat. I decided to head indoors. I soon got bored since I took some photograph of the interior already last week. I then made my way to Low Yat. It was pretty deserted for a weekday. The main foyer which used to be buzzing with vendors and stalls was empty. It was empty space. Something I was not used to. I walked around to look for photo printer since the current one I have was five years-old and the refills were hard to come by nowadays. The current prize for dedicated photo printers were already very cheap. Compared to the RM2500 I spend for my last printer, I can get an A4 printer for less than RM250 complete with ink-tank modification. That's important to cut maintenance down. The printers were to heavy to carry though as I park at Pavilion. Maybe next time.

By the time I came back to Pavilion, the lighting was better, and I started snapping away. I put up the slideshow here.

Lunch at Atrium Cafe, Sunway Hotel Resort

Last Saturday, after attending the wedding, I took the whole troupe to Sunway. The boys did not eat much during the kenduri. They wanted some spaghetti instead. I remember last year, we went Atrium Cafe at Sunway Resort Hotel and the food there was a hit with the boys. For a Saturday afternoon, the traffic was rather kind. We glide through the New Pantai Expressway, parked at the hotel - less crowded then the Sunway Pyramid carpark - and settled in pretty quickly.

Anita's spaghettiThe cafe itself was accessible from the main shopping complex on the Ground Floor. There are two parts to the cafe, the buffet and the cafe. We prefer the cafe as usually the money spent on paying for the buffet was more than the food taken as it was already late afternoon. We can also order whatever we fancy that way. My favorite there have always been the buffalo mozzarella. Yes, I know it's full of fat, but hey! Cheese were supposed to be good fat what?

Now you see it ......... now you don'tThe setting was pretty basic. A simple cafe and a sports bar. There were pinball consoles and pool tables. There was also a fusball table. The seating was very comfortable table with a few rows of wall sofa. Since the main crowd was on the buffet area, we got the whole area to ourselves and the boys just loved that! For a cafe, the food was actually really nice. Nice for snacking with friends. Especially good since the shopping area was just next door ….

Quickly settling in for our mozzarella and spaghetti, I explored the shopping centre looking for any interesting decor. There was a dragon dance troupe doing a show there at the time but Irfan was not really that keen. Initially Puan Anita was keen to see the dolphin show there. Apparently, there was a special pool being erected for the show, located in a tent just outside the shopping complex. We were under the impression that it was located in the lagoon itself initially. Since it was on the opposite side, we gave it a miss.

We went to the Wildlife Park instead …. which will be uploaded here later. Slideshow of the visit is here.

Wedding at Wardieburn

I would just like to take this opportunity to congratulate a former neighbour whose daughter got married yesterday. The wedding was held at a hall in Wardieburn Camp. Yes, it was inside the Army Camp itself. The hall was brand new, and in the last few months there have been a few weddings held there.

Irfan and cousin Suraiya enjoying the PSPShould I be encouraging Irfan to play this game?It was an afternoon reception. We were amongst the first to arrive there, just before midday. The happy couple arrived for the bersanding at around 12.30. Everything went smoothly. The food was nice. The MC was clearly having fun singing a few numbers before the couple arrived on the karaoke. I have a point of contention though. Not against the host, but against the Camp management itself.

The MC belting away at the karaoke. Seemed to be having too much fun!The happy couple entering the hallThere was a lack of coordination and for the army - both myself and Puan Anita coming from army families - it was embarrassing. Some of the guests were asked to take passes, while others wasn't. Some were asked silly questions despite coming in with invitation cards, dressed in batik and carrying an MPV-full of children. I got in without any problem. But coming out, questions were asked and I was asked to pop the trunk etc. I personally don't have a problem with that. My problem is the the lack of coordination. I am sure the simple reason why the army allowed for the hall to be used is for extra revenue, and maybe to have better community relations. To admit otherwise and open out the camp for other reasons just does not make sense. It just did not justify the possible compromise to security.

In other words, make the procedure of entering and exiting the camp during one of this events standardised. Guests will know what to expect. Maybe the host will also know what to expect so that the guests will be informed. It wasn't just me but many of the guests were bemoaning that fact as well.

Saturday Morning Activities

Today's theme, the letter 'A'The boys were now used to waking up early. Even during weekends. Last night, we went out for dinner at KLCC and the two of them were already asleep in the car before we reached home. Had to carry the chubby one into the room. Nearly did my back.

The tool of the trade ... or tirade! The ammunitionAnother masterpieceSo, they woke me up at around 6.30 this morning. They wanted to do some arts apparently. While breakfast was being prepared, we got the watercolour out, and they started colouring. An hour after, everything was almost dry and the mess were being cleared and the pictures were their products. I wanted to take my camera out but unfortunately there was nothing much happening around my place, unless I join my KLickr friends having fun at Batu Caves. Most of them were already at the scene as early as 6am. It's Thaipusam today!

Waiting for the artwork to dryWhat we were watching on YouTube ... Star Wars Lego!As for us, we have a wedding to attend to at lunch. After that, I am keen to go to Putrajaya for a drive. Not sure my batik will fit in though as I will be going straight from the wedding.
