At Kuala Selangor

As I don't have any clinics, I decided to head out to Kuala Selangor for lunch. Anita and her parents came along. The boys decided to have the morning in bed. And we had our driver to do the driving, so I could just chill on the way there and back.

The food was still excellent and pretty fast despite a decent crowd at the restaurant. The garoupa proved to be a hit and my Dad in law managed to finish it off including the head.

A nice sea breeze to top things off. Now it was time to head home. More to write later.

Nothing beats taking a 360 photo from inside the shop, looking at the collections they had. Very nice indeed!

Toko Ce Rose Kebaya Nyonya

One of the main reason we drove to Melaka last Monday was to shop. Anita had been eyeing some traditional kebaya for some time. Those is KL were either non-authentic or too expensive. The best places to get some proper kebaya would either be in Penang or Melaka since the Peranakan were known to make some fantastic attire.

She went on the net and found out about this place. There were a few others around the corner from here, but this was the one which caught her eyes. Getting there was pretty straight forward since it was located just around the corner from the famous Rumah Merah or Stadhuys building, not far from Jonker.

There were plenty of selections

Coming in many shapes and sizesThe place certainly lived up to its reputation. And they catered for the real expensive ones to the ones more affordable, complete with set of accessories. Unfortunately size was a factor for Anita, and we were not able to buy the exotic ones.

All in all, definitely a place to visit if one was into buying kebaya.

Heritage Bazaar

We went there because it was convenient. We were rushing during our day trip and we parked in the covered parking lot at Dataran Pahlawan. My Mum wanted some belacan. Easy decision then. There was a bazaar next to the car park and it had all the usual things you needed to bring back to KL. It might not be the best of quality but when you have to grab something quick, this would do.

Idlan wondering why it was called "gula Melaka"Still fascinatedTidbitsThis bazaar was called the "Heritage Bazaar", which hosted plenty of the stalls selling the usual touristy tidbits. It occupied quite a large portion of the lower ground floor at Dataran Pahlawan and it was usually filled by tourist. Of course we paid tourist price to buy the stuff there but the local guys there was really nice in making sure we get value for money.

So, in the end we got our belacan, cencalok and some cookies. Idlan got some things to fiddle with, so he was happy. And I didn't have to walk far to the car after that ...

Yes, it was Hello Kitty, and Idlan did not want to talk about it and refused to have his selfie taken. I guessed this experience would have scarred him for life!
