Leaving Tanjung Rhu

I must say that I was pretty impressed. And it was not just because we were the only Malaysian there.

The hotel had been under renovation for the last four years and for the last couple there were hardly any work going on. According to the staffs, since the hotel was doing OK despite the reduced number of beds, it didn't make much sense to disrupt business and cause problem with the guests of the renovation was going on.

So, a substantial portion of the hotel remained closed but the essentials were running well. And the number of staffs were more than I thought and they seemed to have time for us whenever we went for drinks, swim or dinner.

Our suite was definitely a delight. We felt like just sitting in the room enjoying the stay - in fact we decided to have dinner in the room last night and the staff actually came to ready the table, and served us.

The boys also had their breakfast in the room yesterday. The staff came complete with a toaster! We also enjoyed a boat ride, feeding fish, looking at eagles and mangroves. All organised by the able staff members.

And did I mention the food? More than adequate and the sight and ambiance was really great. Even our boys were impressed - those little divas!

It was kind of sad to leave today but unfortunately the school will be opened tomorrow and I have a six hour drive ahead of me. We shall be doing a bit of shopping at Pekan Kuah later as the last couple of days we had just been sitting around the resort. Time to return to reality I supposed.

Checking out soon...

Kuala Kedah Jetty

We could only manage the noon ferry, and compounded by this being a Saturday, it seemed to be the most popular trip. The next one after would be at 1.30, and that may be too late for us if we want to enjoy today at Langkawi.

We set off from the hotel at around 10, after everybody had a hefty breakfast. It was only a 15 minutes drive to the jetty but getting the MOV parked - there were no formal roofed parking space here - was tricky. Finally, we saw somebody waving at the side of the road with a sign saying “Parking Berbumbung”. We literally parked next to his house. And yes, it was covered and it was right opposite the road from the ferry terminal.

Problem solved. But we missed the 10.45 ferry. Initially we thought that the ferry will depart every hour at the half hour. Apparently it had been changed - and of course with no prior details. So, for the past hour, we have been enjoying our ice creams in the terminal, the crowd was building up and the ferry had just moored.

We should be off in the next 20 minutes. Time to drag the bags! Langkawi, here we come!

Water Rationing

There was a planned repair at the apartment, and as a result, the water pipes would from the mains would be switched off for a day and we would be relying on the apartment tanks.

Taking remedial steps, we decided to keep some water in the bath and bath the boys traditional style this morning. Myself and Anita woke up very early before the tap was switched off and hopefully there would be water still in the tank to last the day!

As a result, we had a wet bathroom for the day!

Saturday Night Outing

Kung Fu Panda was back. The third instalment was better than ever. A really great night out last night - a post-call thing and Irfan especially had been nagging about this since I returned from Brisbane. He initially wanted to watch it last Thursday but we could not get a ticket for the early show. It was a school night so, no late show for them!

So, last night both he and Idlan enjoyed the movie. I must admit that I dozed off in the middle since I only had a couple of hours sleep the night before. Idlan sitting next to me nudged me every time there was a good gag and the movie certainly hit all the right note. The boys enjoyed it. I enjoyed it even though I was tired. Definitely one for the family ...

Homework Afternoon

We spent the earlier part of the afternoon in Bangi, supporting our high school MRSM Terendak at the Ansara Games. Unfortunately with the boys on tow, I had to do the babysitting at the car park. Anita get to see the games with another friend of ours, and she had a lovely time.

I didn't even have the chance to snap any photos while we were there.

Fuelling up with some cheesy pizzaOn his final leg ....But reality soon returned as we had to catch up on the homework for the weekend. Idlan had a couple of essays to write while Irfan got a project. We started early and hopefully everything should be done by dinner.
