Open House at Sister's

It was a Raya, birthday, housewarming, doa selamat and Merdeka rolled into one. A do at Julia's new place in Kajang, first time she organised it there. And it was a big one.

It started off in late morning with doa selamat. Anita and the boys got there early as I had to do my morning rounds still. The highlight food-wise was roast lamb and satay. They were fresh, but unfortunately I was not a lamb person. The lamb was a big hit.

After my first round of food, it started to rain. Congregating indoors, I fell asleep in front if the TV. I wad then woken up by calls from the hospital, and in the end had to leave for Subang in the middle of the rain.

Anita stayed for a few more hours, but the traffic was too heavy for me to turn back.

Before leaving, we had the sing-along and cake-cutting for Nana, my niece's birthday. Anita, who bought the cake forgotten to bring along some candles. That cut down the risk of saliva contamination on the Red Velvet ...... And that could only be a good thing.

All in all, it was a great day. I wished that I could've stayed intil the evening, but I had to go to the hospital, and then another do in Melawati. That was what the schedule was like this weekends following Raya. Slideshow from the event here.

Snow World at Genting

RM 48 for a pair of parent and child. It cost me just under a hundred bucks for the four of us to spend 40 minutes in a hall-sized refrigerator. But it was worth it. The boys had great fun, and the 40 minutes just breezed by.

The entrance fee included rent for boots, jacket and gloves. The number of people coming in were regulated, and entrance starts at the half hour, lasting until 10 past. Unfortunately, cameras and phones were not allowed in, and you'd be subjected to some overpriced service for the photographs. A couple of prints set us back a hundred bucks - same as the entrance fee.

By the entrance into the Snow WorldThe hall was decent sized, with three layers. The main floor is flat, allowing you to run around pulling sledge. There was also a couple of igloos, and you could feel the cold when you were inside. It was reminiscent to the walks I had to the lecture halls during my years at university. It was freezing.

Up a flight of stairs, there was another landing, plus a slide - a fast one - on a rubber tub. It was too fast for Idlan although he was initially keen. He chickened out at the top. I had to take the ride for him. Whooosh!

What it looked like on the insideLastly, selecting the photosThere was another area up top through another flight of stairs, and this one may be suitable for some sort of function. Hmmm! A birthday party maybe.

There was no snow flakes, although there were some fine ice on the flooring. Not enough for a snowball fight through, not making a snowman.

It was more fun than I expected actually, and although the entrance fee may appear expensive at the beginning, of was worth it. My boys certainly had fun. Irfan's cheeks were bright red when he came out.

Tonsil Time

I went to visit my niece in Kajang last night. She had been having fever for the last few days, with really bad sore throat. They were up in Penang then, and initially thought nothing much of it, until the fever became relentless. She could hardly swallow nor speak by the time she was admitted on Saturday.

Poor girl was still having fever when we visit last night. Caught in traffic, we were hoping that we didn't reach there to late in the evening. When we got there, she was rather toxic-looking and keen to sleep. Still with fever despite the antibiotics.

Sunshine lighting at the top of her bedLet's skipHopefully she gets better soon .... And as for her room at KPJ Kajang - her Dad an anaesthetist there - it was rather cute .....

Cuti Raya Last Day

So, it was a fruitful day. An outing in Genting where we did a lot of stuff. The boys didn't want to return home in the end and we concluded that one if these days we should open to spend a night or two there. We did Collar before but we felt that the place lost its novelty after a few hours. Maybe there was plenty more to do at Genting proper.

That plan would have to wait, but what struck us was how cool the weather was when we were up there. The place were covered with clouds when we drive down. The children brought down the screen trying to touch the clouds. We wished that there were more space to run around but Genting appeared over developed especially right at the top. Not much more space available to expand.

The boys spent the evening telling their grandparents what they did at Genting. Idlan of course telling them what he saw at Ripley's while Irfan kept harping on about the snow. I spent the evening doing post-production of the snaps taken up there but decided not to upload it until the internet connection improve.

First day back would be an on call day. Meaning I would be spending the evening at the apartment alone. Anita had plenty on her plates sorting out things at home and couldn't join me at the apartment. Well rested last night, I was already at my ParkCity clinic when I wrote this entry. Already there were patients to see when I reach Subang later.
