Things to do

Things to do this morning? Pretty simple. First, stay with Idlan who had been running temperature overnight but was in great spirit this morning. And second, where is Astro? I had to call them again yesterday - call number 5 - as apparently my case had been closed.

So, they promised me that there will be a new a technician with a new Astro Decoder unit at my house by 10 am this morning. Well, it was past that now ..... I'll give I until noon before I call them again I think.

Fever. Allegedly.

Idlan allegedly had a fever. Well, he did reach 40 degrees during late afternoon. He does not usually take naps, but he did so this afternoon. We knew then that something was not right.

After a 3-week break, he returned to school last week. Some of his classmates had been absent throughout the week. It was not a surprise then that he finally had a temperature.

After paracetamol and a nice nap, he woke up, and by the time we were done with Iftar, he and Irfan were up to their usual antics. The lounge was a right mess by the time they were ready to brush their teeth. A stern warning from Grandma soon put them in order!

Braving ourselves for high temperature during the night. At least we would be up for sahur.

The Throat Killing Me

I'm pretty certain that the problem with me at the moment is in the throat. It was red. And painful. The voice is OK but obviously talking caused strain and raising my voice was excruciating. And I had to examine earlier this afternoon.

The pain improved after some paracetamol. And some fluids. The antibiotics certainly took it's time to kick in. Since the air con in the exam hall was in full blast, I was shivering halfway through. I was sure I was still shaking on the drive home.

A shower and a quick nap later, I was ready to settle in for the evening, but jot after my boys wanted to climb all over me. Better sleep in the study room I think for tonight.

My turn

I ended up spending a good few hours in bed after coming home late morning. Body was aching this morning when I woke up but thought I could soldier on. Irfan woke us up first thing after he vomited just after 5 am
After some paracetamol, I felt better, good enough to hottie shower and got to work. The heavy rain certainly didn't help.

After seeing a couple of referrals, things just got from bad to worst. Told my colleagues that I may have to skip, sorted out my Day Care list to make sure that the patient's who booked to see me got sorted out, then off I went home to see GP with Irfan along. The family doctor pit Irfan on antibiotics but as usual, I refused mine. I just picked up the MC and went off home.

I lied in bed after some soup for lunch and did not wake up close to six. Felt better right after that watched a bit of TV, caught my fair share of emails and here I was. I think I would be calling it the evening soon as I had some prior engagement to sort out for tomorrow at the office. Can't miss tomorrow. The update I promised for the MasterPACES would also have to wait.

Fever was back

It looks like the infection was back. I had been having sore throat for the last couple of days and had been having gouging fits in front of my patients in clinic earlier today. Idlan's fever was back since last night and Anita took him to see our GP friend again earlier. His antibiotics were changed and a sample of blood was taken. Since coming back from clinic, Anita started having a temperature as well. The only one who was well was Irfan, and he has been jumping up and down all day.

We decided to huddle together at home tonight. I will have to get better by tomorrow as I will be teaching the MRCP candidates at Hospital Sg Buloh tomorrow and Sunday. Going to be a long hog that. Idlan was now back to sleep. He looked toxic earlier. If the fever continues, it may be time to take him to Pantai to see his Paediatrician. Apparently the Paediatrician himself was having a fever and had to close his clinic for the day. Hopefully things would settle down by tomorrow.
