Low Key Birthday

Idlan turned 11 yesterday and this time we didn't prepare any real party for him. He wasn't really. Keen although he did ask for a cake when he woke up yesterday.

Luckily, a quick call to my sister sorted that out and in the afternoon, we set off to Kajang for dinner and of course the cakes, celebrating it with his cousins.

Nothing fancy. He already got his birthday present the evening before. Maybe we would have lunch with his grandparents later on Sunday...

As for the rest of the day, we didn't do much especially with the rain outside. He also preferred to stay in and play with his cousins.

To Kajang

Since the weekend, my Mum had been staying with my Sister in Kajang. She seemed to be doing OK although still a bit tired at times. She was still used to the idea of taking regular medications. My brother-in-law had also bought her monitoring equipment for her sugar and blood pressure.

So, earlier tonight, we headed off to Kajang to visit her and my sister. We had dinner there, and hung around for a bit. A Shane that tomorrow would be a school day and the children needed to go to bed. Otherwise I would have hung around there a bit longer.

With me traveling to Italy next week, I stocked up my Mum's medications for the duration. She had problem with low sugar, and she felt better when we cut down the dose of some of her tablets. She could do with eating a bit more than she was doing now.

Cuti Raya Day 7 - In Sungai Petani

Irfan having a temperatureAs mentioned, Irfan has a temperature. We had to postponed some of the plans for today until tomorrow. Tomorrow is better anyway since Julia will only reach Sungai Petani today. At least we can hit Penang tomorrow together.

We had breakfast at the resort - since it was included in the room fee. I must say that we got there quite late and the bulk of the crowd have already came and left by then. It seems that everything was finished, even the eggs. We had to cook breakfast for the boys later at Julia's house, but not before doing some groceries.

Julia's house at Taman Puteri JayaJulia arrived at around 1. I went to buy some lunch with Mum and got Teh to come over at Julia's to join us for lunch. Irfan was asleep at the time in the hotel room and we had to wake him up. He was well grumpy.

My favourite dish for lunch as prepared by TehIdlan at the CarnivallIn the late afternoon, we took Idlan and Julia's children to a water theme park right next to Cinta Sayang. It's called the Carnivall. It was actually surprisingly good. As expected it is family-friendly and the admission fees include snacks, which is a change. The layout is simple. Upon entering, there is a canal at the perimeter of the park. Within the canal are a few water pool for kids, with waterslides and all suitable for the less than 5. Idlan and his cousin had so much fun that we had to practically pull them off the pool.

In the evening the whole family had steamboat dinner at the resort. Anita booked for a table for 12 but when we arrived we were surprised to learn that firstly, they did not provide a table for all 12 of us, and secondly, they did not have the table ready for us when we arrived. Complaint? None of the waiters speak Malay or decent English. They were all foreigners! Finally we grumpily split into two adjoining tables. The meal itself was just about OK. There are stalls that serve better food than those, but we were hungry anyhow and it was Syawal.

Better get things sorted out

KL Bird Park, originally uploaded by Haris Abdul Rahman.

My sister was readmitted over night again with abdominal pain. Her husband is around this time, so he arranged to her to be admitted in KLGH this time around under the care of one of his surgeon friend. She initially went there to have a check but since the pain was unbearable at times, they decided to detain her.

By this afternoon, they decided to go ahead and plan something about her gallstones. They are planning a keyhole surgery this coming Friday. She will also have other tests lined up tomorrow. I didn't have time to visit her tonight. I'll definitely drop by tomorrow instead.

In the meantime, my uncle came to see me at my clinic today. She has been having tests for her prostate and had a biopsy done in June. The result came back that he will need further test, and maybe an operation. He wanted a second opinion. Luckily, one of my friend can see him soon, but he will be occupied until Friday. So, I will be double-booked for Friday. I also have a clinic to run in the morning, and will likely only able to escape after Friday prayers. I also have some workshop to attend to tomorrow afternoon, so I will need to get into the office early and get things sorted out double quick. My two other colleagues will be away as well in the afternoon attending a talk in Hospital Ampang. My Boss will have a headache tomorrow afternoon by the sounds of things.

p/s: The picture above was taken at the KL Bird Park sometime in December last year.
