Gearing Up

Another year had passed and it would be another installment of my yearly photo walk and getting to chill out with friends with a camera. Scott Kelby's Annual Photowalk was back. As usual, time to get ready with the gear, get the batteries filled up with the juice, polishing the lens and the lot.

Tomorrow, I would be bringing a couple of cameras. My XT-1 attached to the 56mm Fujinon f1.2 and the smaller Ricoh GR. That way, I would be able to cover wide angle - with the GR able to capture 28, 35 and 47 mm - and the XT-1 obviously the equivalent to 85mm in old money. Should be a great outing although the weather forecasters to be suspect. And there was the issue of the haze as well although it hasn't been too bad today.

My Fenix 2 also needed chargingThis time, we planned to congregate near Pudu Plaza by 9am and would be venturing towards Pudu Market. Should be a decent sized crowd and looking forward to great snap.

We would be spending the evening at the apartment hopefully after that, whereby could get on with post-prodiction and uploading. Fingers crossed for tomorrow.

The walk last year was written up here.

A Long Flickr Morning Walk

It had been a long Sunday. Globally, today was famously inducted as Star Wars Day. May the Fourth be with you as the saying went.

But in the Photographer enthusiast community, this weeks marked the tenth anniversary of Flickr. It was celebrated worldwide with what photographers loved to do, a group photowalk.

KLickr joined in the festivities by conducting its own photowalk. We decided to explore Brickfields this time around.

Hot and sunny although it didn't looked like it when I was driving to start my ward round first thing this morning. I was done by half eight and drove to KLCC to park my car, later taking the LRT to Sentral to join the crowd. The starting point was the brand new shopping mall next to the terminal called Nu Sentral. Swanky!

I reached the meeting point just after 10, settling in for a quick breakfast. Soon the group swelled and it was time to start the walk. The customary group photo was around 60. Not a bad crowd at all.

Hot weather indeed and the whole group congregated for lunch just after noon. But not before I snapped around 250 frames.

I wished that it was more of a guided walk as there were plenty of scene to be taken in then. Plenty to discover as Brickfields was full of history and at the rate the development around there were going, the place would soon change.

As for now, it was certainly an enjoyable walk. And a great company to boot. Will blog more after I got the photographs in post-development.

KLicker at Feeka

As mentioned previously, right after a busy week, it was always nice to unwind. This time, the KLickr group congregated at Feeka at Jalan Mesui for a spot of coffee.

It had been a while since we met up. The last meet up must've been during the wedding of one of our members. They were now expecting a baby - that told you how long it had been.

We caught up about old times as well as plan ahead for the activities for the year. But I missed he highlight since I had to leave early. One of our members got out his balloon kit for all of them to enjoy .... minus me.

Long Weekend Over

It had been a long three days, but things got quieter by yesterday afternoon, so much so that I was able to join my KLickr buddies for a spot of coffee in town.

The boys enjoyed their PD trip, especially Idlan who was still buzzing about it when he reached home last evening. Hour was talking about how serene things were at the beach, not like the hustle and bustle of town over pizza last night.

The boy was clearly growing up too fast.

They have another day of their CNY break today to enjoy before returning to school tomorrow. As for me, I was contemplating cancelling my afternoon clinic in Subang. KL was on holiday still today, so no trip to ParkCity this morning. ‎

Part 9 Last Stop

It had been a nice sunny day, and I was happy that snapped more than 300 frames. It would be a long day of editing right after but as usual, we met up one last time to say our goodbyes and of course, had something to eat.

This year, it was a cafe right next to Masjid Jamek. It was called CoffeeBox. Not great but it had wifi and air-conditioning. That should do the trick nicely.

Busy crossing

Networking..... and post-mortemThis was when we exchanged cards and found out a bit more about what the other participants did for a living. We had a Government Servant, a senior Bank Officer, a retired pilot, and full-time photographer i the mix.

I enjoyed the walk this year, and it was a lot to do with the fact that I was not involved in organising it. Being a walk leader was not really hard work, but on the day, you worry about what the participants would take back from the walk. You ended up trying to keep things on track rather than you yourself walk around enjoying the day. I also managed to get the day off, meaning that I only had minimal interruptions from the hospital.

Time to say goodbyeBack to the LRTIn the end, a afternoon off for me, and I managed to learn a few things about Chow Kit and central KL. When I was talking to the fellow walker at Capital Cafe, we felt that there were plenty of KL which was left undocumented. These celebrated past may be left untold to the future generations. Plenty of anecdotes about the shops and cafe would be lost forever if we do not start jotting them down. Something to take for the future I think ……. Something well worth pursuing …..

More about the walk here.
