Clearing Up

Although it would only be a single day break, Deepavali coming in the middle of the week felt that it was more than just a day off. My clinic also went smoothly this morning as most of my patients already had other plans and would prefer to start things early. I managed to finish the clinic on time.

My boys are having a week break but they were not keen to travel. I would be on call on Thursday, so from the looks of things it would be a day in tomorrow. Maybe I would be watching plenty of TV, binging on a series or two ...

Happy holidays all.

Happy Deepavali

Unfortunately somebody had to be on call, and per the last few years, it had been me. But to be perfectly honest, I don't really mind. As long as somebody can cover my Raya breaks, I would be more than happy.

Deepavali this year fell on a Tuesday. Most of my Indian staffs were still working on Monday, with only Tuesday being off. The day after the call - Wednesday - would be slightly awkward since I had to rush across to Parkcity for the morning clinic before coming back for the afternoon one at Subang. I imagined I would be flat out by Wednesday evening. My children on the other hand had been enjoying a four-day weekend as school was closed today - Monday.

At Sunway PyramidAt Bangsar VillageAs for tonight, I had the chance to take Anita and the boys to Great Eastern Mall for a spot of dinner. The place appeared rather subdued, with very minimal ceremonial decorations. We headed back after the apartment shortly after I could do with an early night ....

To all my friends and colleagues, Happy Deepavali!

Happy Deepavali

Just a short note to wish my Hindu friends a happy Deepavali. Quick tip, celebrate early because it's going to rain in the afternoon. It always does!

I will be on call tomorrow, and expecting mayhem with the traffic leading into my hospital. Take care and happy holidays!

Capturing the Kolam

On Facebook, one of my friend had a whale of a time capturing Kolam around Bukit Bintang. These are etchings, or patterns created on the floor using chalk or more intricately coloured rice. They range from small ones at home to extravagant ones at shopping malls. The Hindus celebrating Deepavali next week, and around the malls in town, plenty were on display.

As I was with my boys and Anita, I did not have much time to explore. But the pattern at the Bukit Bintang entrance of Pavilion was spectacular. I heard that the one on the main lobby of Berjaya Times Square was also worth a visit.

A smaller one at Suria KLCCColourful and very elaborate, I wonder how long it take to get one done. Like dominoes, messing them up surely would not take much effort …..

Happy Deepavali

Happy Deepavali to all my Hindu friends and colleague. Hope that this festival of lights would bring you joy and prosperity.

As for me, it would be a day off - but got to do a ward round however. While a few friends would be heading towards Brickfields armed with their camera for a spot of street photography. Good luck to them as well.

Have a great day all around.
