Breakfast

The breakfast at the resort - at a cafe called Duyong next to the bar called appropriately Lanun - was rather nice. Good local spread - the nasi lemak was delish - and then price was included in then room fees and kids go in free. There was of course, the usual omelette and western items. Those were good as well.

And since the place was packed on a Sunday morning, and many patron came with small children, the cafe get crowded pretty fast. Better to head down there early, like what we did.

Starting things off with the news. I guessed Adri might not be in the best of moods. The croissant was nicely laid out, and fresh too.Fruit salad. Not really my thing ..... I want nasi lemak!Tea for the boys

My boys were not bothered though. They slept in, only to wake up to change and get back into the pool. Myself and Anita took turn to go to the cafe, and we ordered in for the boys. And the in room breakfast was excellent actually. We ordered the western breakfast, and we got sausages and choice of eggs, plenty of croissant, food salad and nice morning tea.

Expensive, but I paid more form a much worst meal before ....... and you didn't have to join then long queue and endure their antics when we get grumpy early in the morning because going to breakfast was between their bed and their morning dip.

Nice walk from my breakfastFinally the sun came out to playThe slideshow for the trip here.

PDGCC to KL

The last times I was at PDGCC - Port Dickson Golf & Country Club - must be some time before I joined SJ. It had been a while. We used to go there for breakfast and also Saturday lunch since they would serve banana leaf meals in the afternoon. Sunday used to be just standard lunch before we head back to KL.

We did the similar thing earlier after checking out from Grand Lexis. The place was crowded since there was a golf tournament going on on the day. Weather was hot, and it looked like the pool had been redone. It appeared neat and clean. We were too tired to venture in as we had enough of swimming for the weekend.

We set off back to KL right after driving around Telok Kemang while the lunch settled down into the tummy. Teluk Kemang was crowded as usual on a Sunday afternoon. We decided against stopping, as the weather was too hot.

We arrived back in KL just before five. At six, there was a prospective buyer coming over to see our Cemerlang house, so we had to return early. Both the boys were asleep in the car by the time we reached home.

The Cool Pool

The hotel used to be called Legend Water Chalet. We once stayed at the apartment - which still has an indoor swimming pool in the room. Form this trip, we picked the chalet on the sea instead. A slight difference although in terms of comfort, they were comparable.

The room we had was one of the bigger ones, a ground floor unit, halfway to the sea. From what I could remember, it may be slightly longer than the apartment, but narrower. Being in the sea, we were charged premium for it of course. But the indoor swimming pool more than made up for that.

As I mentioned, we arrived at PD late. An hour before we arrived, the hotel reception called us to confirm if we had changed our minds. Then late arrival also meant that we did not have to queue at the front desk. Since we booked in agreed of time, all they needed was my signature. By the time that was done, a buggy was already waiting for us to intake us to our chalet.

Off came the clothes and the boys were already in the pool in double quick time. 4 feet deep. No problem for Idlan, but Irfan had to tip toe as the water level was at his chin. That didn't deter them a bit, even though the water was freezing ......

Anita then ordered some snacks and drinks, and they enjoyed that while still dipped in the pool, splashes everywhere.

There was also an outdoor shower next to then pool which was convenient since we wanted then to dry up before getting back into the room. And the room was something else .......

The Drive Down

I arrived home from my clinic at 2 pm to learn that our immediate neighbour passed away after a recent battle with cancer. Anita visited the widow earlier, but the body was still on the way from the hospital via the mosque. Anita was occupied the whole morning before making preparations for the drive down to Port Dickson.

We finally got things in order to leave after 3 pm. Fearing the traffic, we decided to detour via KLIA, down to the town of Sepang which would be only be about half an hour away from PD. Unfortunately, here was where my plans went to pots.

The route was jammed up due to some some construction works. And after 45 minutes, driving along a 3 km stretch, we had enough and turned back, via Bandar Enstek towards Labu. The turn added an extra hour to the journey, and we managed to finally check in at around quarter past 6.

I was worried that we would get delayed further, as even the second route we took also had some construction going on. If not form that, I was sure that we would have been able to reach PD earlier. This was not helped by the fact that all the traffic lights were red when we got by.

And of course, off went their clothes as the first order of business was to head straight into the pool. Splash away!

They finally emerged out of the freezing water at around 8, when it was already dark outside. Room service came next, and the boys spent the rest of the evening holed up in the cosy hotel room, watching TV, and tucked into their beds playing their iPads.

Rumour has it that they wanted to get up early tomorrow morning to have another dip.

Getting Set

Well, Friday was almost done, and everybody - the boys included were looking forward to the trip tomorrow afternoon. Shame that I could not set off any earlier. I have a clinic to do, and hopefully, things would fall into place early and we could set off right after lunch. The bookings were already sorted, and packing was under way.

We would probably plan for weekends away every couple of months as that would be the only time that we could chill as a family. And it would also be good for the mind. Travelling from time to time could only be a good thing, even if it was for a single night.

We would be heading to Port Dickson tomorrow, staying at the Grand Lexis. We were there before when it was under a different management. A free trip then, but tomorrow would be free from any conference commitment. No such thing as a free lunch eh!

So, swimming gear on the ready ……
