Football Time. Finally.

Done with the admissions and now time to enjoy some football. The second half of Argentina versus Belgium to be more specific. Maybe with a bit of food as I didn't have anything at the apartment for sahur later.

The game so far had been a cagey affair. This would be the first of the night. Netherlands would be playing later this morning.

The admissions had been ok so far, and hopefully I could have a nice night sleep with a quick morning round to follow. I had to visit my brother in law who was admitted at Hospital Ampang for an abscess. Looked like he may need an operation.

I might as well get this game over and done with before returning to the apartment. ‎

Hotting Up

At the closing stages of the Portugal group game, a group involving Germany, USA and Ghana. Ronaldo having scored the second goal, just couldn't add a third. Desperate closing stages and as it stood, both Portugal and Ghana would be going home.

One of the problem of staying up for the game was getting hungry as the game were coming to the end. Luckily I found a cup of instant noodle in the kitchen. That should keep me going until the morning I hope.

Anita had already gone asleep, so time to eat alone. Poor Ronaldo...‎

World Cup at Pyramid

It must have been a good few months since I last visited Sunway Pyramid. I hated the parking system out there and tried to avoid it during peak hours.

Today, I was free by 10.30, and I decided to see what was cooking there. Pretty much the same, except that one of the lobby had a cafe occupying half of its space. A posh one at that.

So, what was the theme? The World Cup obviously. Flags galore but there were no activities going on. Maybe it was still way too early. ‎

Not My Kind of Sunday

After watching the Dutch getting the upper hand against Spain, I was full of optimism waiting for the England-Italy kick-off.

England wanted to inject pace to the game early doors, but Italy as the usually do, played at Pirlo-pace.

A dummy, a shimmy and a shot, and Italy was one nil up. England did not sit still and the old adage of teams being most vulnerable to concede when they had just scored applied here. Within a couple of minutes, Sturridge was at the end of Rooney's cross to bring the score level.

The scored stood tied until the break.

Then Italy got the upper hand. Ballotelli. Why always him?

England couldn't find a reply after this although I must say compared to the previous years, they played with more enthusiasm. They just lack the know-how at the final third. Their shoot-on-sight tactic did create a few problems for the Italian defence who were shaky at times, but they could do with a world-beating midfielder, somebody with a knack for the killer pass. Xabi Alonso, Xavi, Veron or even A Scholsey would do nicely.

Now to look forward to the next group game and come through from there ...

The Fever is Here

So, the World Cup was finally under way. I missed the opening ceremony though. It was post-call and I answered a phone call at around 2.30 am, and thought I just continued a nap for another hour before catching up the opening game.

The next thing I knew, it was already 6.30, waking up even later than usual.

Tonight it was the Netherlands playing Spain, a repeat of 2010 Final. Wonder which team I was rooting for?
