Bendera

The National Day - Merdeka - will be next weekend. And with the current political scene, the celebration felt somewhat different.

Rather than lamenting in all this politics, I would rather take my camera out and start snapping photos. Last weekend I did just that and the plan was to capture the National Flag - Jalur Gemilang - in all its glory.

This weekend would be a long one, with being on call on Friday. I plan to stay in this weekend as there were street protests planned on Saturday and Sunday. The TV and social media would be interesting this weekend ...

KLFW

Not really a fan of fashion but the buzz created around Pavilion during the event was palpable. And since I was passing there, I got curious.

I didn't hang around too long though as I had some stuff to sort out at the bank and some documents to sort out for GST payment. But the glitz was definitely there. And this was in the afternoon. I would imagine the glamour factor would be amped up later in the evening ....

Back to Base

The break lasted a couple of days and I will be on call tomorrow. Followed by a full weekend, with weddings and visits. The journey home was a smooth one, setting off from PD after lunch at the PD Golf Club. Just over an hour between PD and our apartment.

That as one of the advantages of travelling midweek. If you leave right after lunch, you could easily avoid the rush hour traffic. The highway was empty all the way and the weather was nice all along.

The day did not stop there. It was followed by a movie. This time minus the kids.

I couldn't get back to bed too early since I was occupied by paperwork and photos which needed processing. The boys were still on school break, and they were not keen to get to bed early.

It would be a struggle tomorrow .....

One Final Dip

Disappointingly, we woke up this morning to the sound of heavy rain. The boys had planned to have an early breakfast followed by another dip in the pool before leaving for KL.

High tide with the soothing sound of crashing waves, plus that extra bit of cool from the heavy rain meant that the plan for early breakfast was shelved.

I went to breakfast first with Idlan as Anita had to wait up for Irfan who was still sound asleep. After breakfast was done, Irfan finally woke up, opened the window, taking his clothes off straight into the pool. The rain has ended.

Cue more splashing with me and Idlan included. Looks like the plan for the morning dip was back on! KL would have to wait!!!!!!!

Go Oceanic

Nothing much but reminiscing on one of the mall in PD. Oceanic Mall. It was out favourite since early 2000s before our boys were born. We used to come to PD every time we returned to Malaysia for our holidays. This was where we got our grubs and food during our stay.

Fast forward to the mid 2000s when the boys arrived, this was where we got cheap clothes for them. They were really cheap and for some reason, their dales seemed to go on all year round. Not that we were complaining.

Now we go there every six months to stock up. And we did that again yesterday.

The place had gone on a decline however. Maybe competition from other malls nearby. There was also the newly opened promenade right next door with some nice eateries lining the shoreline.

What was left was the original The Store supermarket. Still the best place to get my children's clothes and grin though. The upper couple of floors were already deserted and the supermarket had taken steps to cut their loses by only switching on the escalators going up and increasing the temperature on the air conditioning.

We used to get DVDs and games for the boys there. Even those shops were closed. The whole place was a real sad state. I think the whole place won't last long. Once the anchor tenant, The Store leaves, the days for Oceanic would be numbered.
