Around the Corner

Father's Day would be coming in another couple of weeks time. It would be the first weekend after Ramadhan starts.

I was dropping hint that we should get an iftar night out on the evening. Hopefully somebody would be listening.

The main lobby at Bangsar Village todayBangsar Village had started decorating for that. Idlan was asking me earlier, why was is always that sailboats were used as symbol of Father's Day celebrations? I really got no answer to that one. Maybe it had something to do with sailors?

Mama Got a Brand New Glasses

Anita finally got her brand new glasses after a few sleepless nights.

Her old glasses were broken last year and I had been pestering her to get it replaced. She finally did it earlier in the week, but had to wait until today for it to be ready.

Time to pick them up - she actually ordered a couple of pairs. Happy days indeed!

On Call Holiday

I got the short straw this time around having to cover for a colleague who booked a conference which happened to be during a Public Holiday. I took up the call to cover him and the day so far had been rather quiet. I spent teh afternoon at the apartment after a spot of lunch with a colleague.

Anita had brunch with some classmates and had just called to say that she was on the way back. Before reaching home, she had to pick up her new glasses. I offered to join her there so that we can have some afternoon tea while waiting for calls from the hospital.

Hopefully things stay quiet as it is since a couple of my colleagues would be away next week for another conference in Europe, leaving me to hold the fort. Happy Holidays all!

Latin American Festival

We just made a turn coming out of Low Yat, and the next thing we knew was there was a big crowd with loud music going on. A street party.

A closer look and it was a the 7th Latin American Festival, promoting tourism there. Hard to realise that they had been doing it for that many years. It came complete with party, bazaars, stalls as well as dancers. Pretty fun actually.

Unfortunately, we were not really able to sample the food since not all of them were Halal - one of the store from Cuba was, so we did grab a snack. The rest were alcohol-fuelled activities. Great fun, but we didn't linger around for too long.

I was sure the party would go on for a lot longer judging from the spirit of the South American crowd who turned up. They were dancing away as we left. Great stuff!

Definitely would be visiting again on the next issue.

Back to UMMC

In the middle of my busy schedule, I received an invitation to give a talk at UMMC, something which I would not say no to. Sure enough, the day came and the topic given was somewhat tricky and not something I had touched before, although well within my realm.

I cancelled my Saturday morning clinic for this - my talk was about 11.30 - and was there in ample time to have a look around and listen to the other speakers which happened to be my former colleagues.

The irrepressible Mrs DhillonAfter delivering my talk, I had to make a quick exit as I had a referral to attend to at Park City, followed by meeting up with Anita after her reunion. We then had dinner after that for my Mother-in-law's birthday. Not much time to linger around after the talk.

None the less I felt honoured and it was certainly great to meet familiar faces and say hi to some old friends.
