Quick Break

Irfan woke up this morning with a fever. So he missed out on lunch with his cousins at The Curve and also the evening outing for froyo.

He was not bothered though as he wanted to be absent from school tomorrow. Compared to normal school, Sri Utama had another week to go before end of year break. And on the last day, it would be the prize-giving, for which I had cancelled my clinic for. Both insisted that I be around, since I missed last year's event.

Idlan on the other hand was keen to go since most of his friends would still be coming. No lessons though. He had some music practice as well.

And then, another exam for Al Manar from Thursday. So, the school year had yet to end for the two of them.

Enders Again

I don't normally have get the time for movies but this week alone I went to the venoms movies twice. Worst still, it was for the same movie, Ender's Game.

I went with Anita on Thursday after work, but we felt that the boys would enjoy it. So, I booked the tickets this morning before work and as soon as I reached home, we set off for Gardens.

The boys really got into it. A few gasps from Idlan as some of the twists in the plot were revealed. Then came the barrage of questions from the boys on the drive home. Sufficed to say that the decision to watch it again was a good one ....

Xmas Coming

While walking around Gardens Mid valley earlier on, I noticed that few of the shops had already started to put up their Xmas decor. Before long, I was sure that the malls would start to display their decorations too.

Something to look forward to. And the decorations also reminded me of my travel to Atlanta last year. It was at the height of the Xmas shopping season. Plenty of shoppers were about, as well as great bargains to be had .....

Paging Mr Ender

The boys and some of their classmates spent the day at Kidzania today. They got back home late afternoon, and Idlan was so exhausted that he actually had a nap as soon as he arrived home.

As for the evening, it was Anita's and my turn to go out. We went out for dinner, and then watched a movie. Anita wanted to watch Diana but the timing was off. We ended up watching Ender's Game. It turned out to be better than we expected. And we wished that the boys came along to watch as well.

The movie was an adaptation of a 1985 novel be the same name, written by one of the film's producer Orson Scott Card. We thought it was fantasy fiction before we set down at the cinema. It turned out to be science fiction instead.

The story narrative was interesting and the main protagonist was a young boy. I was sure that my children would have been excited to watch this.

The story was about a gifted child, hand picked to lead the Earth Force against a swarm of aloe species following a failed invasion 50 years prior.

Humans decided to make a pre-emptive strike near the alien's home planet utilising the gift of this child, called Ender. It started off with his training, and through series of simulation built up into the final confrontation with the alien species.

There were twists and turns of course before the end, and it was pretty clear that it had sequels written all over. A quick check on Wikipedia showed there were plenty of books to come in the series. Anita wanted to watch the movie again, this time along with the boys. Highly recommended.

Playing Up?

Not sure what the deal was here, but since yesterday Squarespace’s visitor tracker had gone tipsy. In fact, it did not register any visitors to my site at all for the whole day. It did capture four visit this morning, but that was about it. Have everybody deserted me already?

It was very rare that Squarespace acted up like such. It had always been stable. Maybe there was an internal upgrade that upset everything …..

Or maybe it was the truth!!!
