Butterflies at Gardens

Anita had to buy some food for my boys to eat after school and coming from the apartment, we decided to stop by Mid Valley. The Gardens had some cute decorations up - not for Raya mind.

Not sure about the theme, but there were plenty of butterflies around. Not real ones, but all decorations. Colourful. Not sure what they would change for their Raya theme. So far, didn't see any signs of that yet.

Cleaning the Apartment

After been using the apartment mainly for on calls, the place certainly need some cleaning up. Still waiting for time to do it up a bit, so the place was still pretty bare.

Anita might be engaging an ID firm to spruce up the place before we really shop for stuff. We had a few ideas but due to combination of fund and time, that would have to wait. Since then, I had been looking around for ideas.

From the main lobbyToday, it was high time to get the place cleaned up a bit. We plan to spend tmnext weekend at the apartment since the children would be starting their term break, and I had a couple of calls to do during Ramadan. Anita felt it would be better if she cooked during that time at the apartment.

So, the place is now cleaned up by the maids today, and that gave me a few ideas about decorations ...... Maybe after Raya.

Pasar Ramadan Melawati

Living in Gombak area, my main site for getting bites for iftar had always been either the Pasar Ramadan at Taman Melawati or nearer to home, Taman Melati.

The old Melawati site was convenient for me from the parking standpoint as well as access in and out. This year, the old site was being built up, and the vendors were moved further behind the old site and it was a nightmare.

Not only that parking was an issue, the the capacity of the place was also down to 25% of what it was. A major difference. It was more of a downgrade and hopefully it was just a temporary measure. As it went, I don't think the place would be attractive next year.

Instead of having four rows of stalls alongside each other, it was now just one long narrow lane with stalls lining both sides. Not fun to walk through. And the traffic jam....

The site was alongside one if the main back road in Melawati - leading up to the K Klub and the International School further down. As a result, the traffic was murder. I parked quite far away from the bazaar and ended up making a u-turn to return home. Nightmare.

Unfortunately, we might have to return here from time to time. And I'd better come in super early during weekends because the traffic would not too kind. Good luck to me...

First Day

I was meant to be on leave, but I ended spending time running around from Subang, Bangsar, Wangsa Maju, KLCC and of course Melawati for pasar Ramadan. Tiring day.

Groceries and shopping done before picking up cakes and cookies late in the afternoon. Of course it won't be complete without a quick dash to pasar Ramadan.

It looked like the two malls that I went to this afternoon had been gearing up to Raya with their decorations. Syria KLCC main foyer was still being transformed, so we were still waiting to find out what was in store.

At Alpha AngleMainly clothes hereThe decor at KLCC still being erectedThe decorations at Alpha Angle looked already been set up and the bazaar there was already up and running. But I was yet to get into the mood for clothes shopping. I just left this to Puan Anita. She's the chief when it came to shopping.

Waiting for iftar now, and I would be blogging more after the meal.

The Durian Cake

After iftar, the cake was finally unveiled. It was a sponge cake with pure durian topping. I like durian in its pure form. I only eat them from the fruit. I don't like them in curry or other form. Not even in pancake or my wife's favourite tempoyak.

So when I found out that this was the cake that Puan Anita bought for us tonight, I was feeling dreadful initially. But I changed my mind after having a bite.

One each, to avoid any tussle between me and DadBut the honour went to IdlanIt taste surprisingly like the real thing. Not too sweet, and it smelt the same too. The texture was a bit sift and I ended up just beating the durian bit, not the cake. Not roo bad at all.

I won't go around recommending it since I felt full after just a slice, but it certainly was something new. Puan Anita got it from Secret Recipe but one would have to order them in advance.
