Winding Down

As I had arrived early again, I decided to hang around for a free minutes catching uo with the news. At the moment, reports were coming in about the number of death at the football match in Egypt. So tragic! Emotion can run high at football matches, but judging by the number of death, this may be more that just a straightforward incident. Many were trapped and largely the death could have been avoided by a better stadium design and crowd control maybe.

As for the rest of the day, I have a couple of patients to sort out before clinic, but essentially things were winding down nicely in time for me leaving for the break tomorrow. Cue photos of me packing from tonight .....

The End of the Tour

I watched every single episodes of Entourage over the years. So when it came to the finale - at the end of Season 8, I couldn't help but feel sad. I have invested so much in the characters. I understood each characters motivation and their stakes. The final season brought some sort of closure to all the main characters, a fitting ending, while still opening a glimmer of hope for a movie at the end, something akin to "Sex in the City".

When I first watched it in 2005, it was more of a fun ride, with cameo galore from the Hollywood stars. But it soon became clear that the characters were developed for the long run. I can't help but to admit that the main character I connected with was Ari Gold, played by the great Jeremy Piven. He is the main plotter, Vince's - the main protagonist - agent. My favourite scene was when Ari turned up into an agency he has just taken over with a paint gun and shot all the staffs that he wanted to fire. It was a classic.

It was in the end, a good and soapy ending. Much too sweet I thought as everything turned out perfect. Too perfect …. but that was how it went. Now, I can't wait for the movie to come out …..

We Got the Tix

I had a hard time buying the tickets for Universal Studios this morning. I was trying to use the MayBank offer of 15% discount. Unfortunately at the check-out, I was told that since I have yet to register my credit card to my mobile, I couldn't proceed. Not giving up, I called the customer service. Then, I was given the lamest of excuse, I can't register because the system is down.

The sad thing was, according to the lady of the other end of the line, it may be down the whole morning. I was asked to call later. She wasn't very pleased when I asked what to expect when I got registered in terms of the mechanic of the check out later. She just told me to just follow the instruction on the screen and I will then be asked to enter a code which would be sent to my mobile via SMS.

So tried again earlier from work. True enough the system was still down. To register again later, I have to call the customer service again and go through the queue and punch-in menu system. Waste of time.

I ended up using my UOB credit card instead and forfeited the 15% discount. Sigh!

The New Posterous

I first posted in Posterous in 2009. Being an early adopter actually, and I must say that after the initially being impressed with what it had to offer, it was surpassed by other app such as Instagram and even Path.

Now, it had made a comeback.

Posterous act as a conduit. You register all your social media presence on it - your Facebook, Flickr, blog, twitter, Youtube, Picasa etc - and just sent your blog, photos, video updates to just one program and all your status would be updated in one shot.

It sounded promising but the interface was clunky and there was the problem of fragmentation as the implementation into each of the individual web outlet may not be perfect. I persevered and found a way around it, and lately I have been using it to update from - not to - my blog.

What impressed me the most was a couple of things. The API is much more stable. You can now count on Posterous to update all your status. It had been hit and miss before. And since it had a reliable app on iOS and Android, updating my blog and status on the go had been a doodle.

The interface does look neat and worthy of being a main blog The second point was the update on the web interface. You can now be proud of it to be your main front. My theme basically displayed a set of 12 photographs of my last 12 updates and the visitor just click on it to read the blog. Excellent!

It still need a few more tweaks. You can now use your own custom domain to add exclusivity. I would be using it for my trip to Singapore soon and see how things work out! Watch this space.

Lembu nak Jaga

For the last couple of days, Idlan had been singing a song that had been driving us nuts. It was the Maroon 5 tune, "Moves like Jagger". But instead, he sang the chorus as "ada lembu nak jaga".

That was a meme on YouTube created by a bunch of local twitteratis. With a fun looking video. Once seen, you'd be hooked!
