The Pool is Cool

This place is a blast. In not talking about the food, nor the activities you can get your teeth into, but just the venue. A quick escape from KL by the highway - checked. Nice spacious room - checked. Nice pool with separate area for kids - checked. Kids play room - checked.

So, what more can you ask? More about that later. Let's now concentrate on the positives.

As you arrived at the main lobby, you leave your luggage and then drive your car to the carpark located round the corner - quite far from the main reception area unless you are a VIP. Like anything else in Melaka, VIP get separate treatment re Ali Rostam.

While you're checking in, you were given a fresh towel to clean up and a glass of nice drink to quench your thirst. Argh!

Checking in was straight forward as we had already paid online. The room we got was right on the opposite end of the resort. The honeymoon area I supposed. We should have gone for the villa rather than a standard room. For the price we already paid, the extra wound make much difference.

We were really impressed with the room. It was all timber, with a comfortable bed, a verandah with nice breeze. The tall ceiling with a fan made the room feel cool, and the lighting brought the ceiling window made for an airy feeling. You have a dressing area, a couple of sofa in the room and more seating at the verandah. Once you get into the room, you just wanted to stay indoors and forget about what's going on outside.

But we had to go out, and off the the pool we went. Was it worth the venture out? It was. The pool was real nice. Separate main and wading pool. Nice afternoon breeze on an overcast day. They have small pavilion for you to chill if you just wanted to sit down and nap. We had a whale of a time by the pool and only got out near Maghrib.

Walked back to our room, hit the shower, and then off for dinner.

More about the dinner as unfortunately that was a drag. Suffice to say, the room was excellent. Clearly a lot of effort was put into the built and ambiance. Unfortunately, it lacked a full package to be worth the excess of RM 600 we paid for the stay.

Arrived at Philea

Arrived at Philea just after 5 pm and the traffic was kinder than I feared. It was packed between Nilai and Seremban, with the usual road bullying going on. Philea was easy to get to. It is located right after the Ayer Keroh exit.

Checking in was straight forward as we had pre-booked. Our room was right at the opposite end of the resort however and on the upper floor. Luckily, the friendly porter sorted out our stuffs and right after, we were already down at the pool until sun down.

I have just finished dinner. Everybody was in good spirit and tired. Likely be heading for bed soon. The cell signal was rather patchy at the room. Only Edge and no 3G. The wifi signal was also rather weak. So, can only bog sporadically until tomorrow. Fortunately here was wifi at the lounge. Enough for me to cool up an entry.

So, later peeps! Good night!

Just a few more Minutes

Just finishing off my clinic but still have a counseling to do in the ward. After that, I would be off home. We plan to start the journey to Philea just after lunch.

Weather looked nice but anticipating a nasty amount of traffic. Reports so far on twitter had not been encouraging in terms of delays. Lets hope that the boys were ready for the long stretch. That entails the iPad being charged up!

Almost There

We spent all yesterday evening after work to shop rather than pack and now we were behind schedule. I have clinic this morning, so after sorting out the vouchers and bookings, as well as the photography gear, I was out of the house. Puan Anita would be doing the packing, with the help of the boys of course!

I should be able to sort things out by noon, then we would be off for the night at Philea, in Melaka. We decided to break the journey rather than head straight to Singapore as we may only reach there in the middle of the night. We could do with a night chilling out in Melaka as well!

I have heard good things about Philea, so looking forward to a bit of hospitality there as well. And, the place is damn expensive!

Don't Mess with the Zohan

Where would I start? Over the years, movies from the Happy Madison stable, especially starring Adam Sandler tended to be predictable. But occasionally there were some gems, such as their first effort - Deuce Bigalow. That was a classic!

Then came disasters, such as Mr Deeds and Little Nicky. But in 2008, they produced "You Don't Mess with the Zohan". I enjoyed watching it last weekend, and clearly the two main characters, Adam Sandler and John Torturro had great fun in the role.

I would rather not post a spoiler here, but when an Israeli elite counter-terrorist agent decided to become a hair-stylist, the plot must be a funny one. And it certainly was. Highly recommended if you have a twisted sense of humor.
