P versus Z II

Since the latest instalment of Plants versus Zombies was incompatible with the first generation iPad, my boys had been using my Retina iPad since. So, I now have no iPad. The game was that addictive. No chance for me to catch the big since ny boys had been using them since yesterday.

It looks like Idlan would be using Anita's old second generation iPad as well, since Irfan had been conquering my device. Sigh!

At least the game was free .......

Happy Friday Evening

It was finally Friday, which meant iPads were out from their hiding place for the weekend. Apparently there had been an update to their favourite game, Minecraft. Quick update, and fir the last hour they had been in front of their iPads.

I never quite understand Minecraft, possibly because I never had the time to get into it. But my boys and their friends in school were really into it. Idlan and Irfan could even log onto the WiFi network and play together. Still I couldn't figure out what the excitement was all about.

According to Irfan, with the latest update, he could bake cake, milk cows and built more stuffs. Idlan's favourite seemed to be the lava tiles.

Never mind then, I need to chill out since I would be on call tomorrow. Anita had been in the kitchen for the last 30 minutes. And it smelt nice ........

Let There Be Lightt

Over the years, I had been invited to try out plenty of new services and software, mainly by start-up company off Silicon Valley. Mainly I stumbled across beta program and sign myself up. Some were offered by friends. Some were good. Some not so. Google Wave was a disaster on its own, but had now been iterated into a more polished product, Google Plus.

I did some trial for Squarespace among others, and recently, I had been one of the early adopter of Lightt.

Lightt is currently an iOS only app, which takes a burst of ten frames a second apart, and compiled it into a stock-frame take - sort of quick succession of stills or highlight. It was just stills, with no audio. The beauty was not on the actual video creation, but the option to share. The short clips or highlight would then be uploaded almost instantaneously onto the cloud and shared, either with other user of the app or via Facebook and Twitter.

Then app itself appears light, and comments could be up onto the highlights via the app, and as per other social network services, you can then follow others and interact with them.

The app was still maturing, and integration at the moment was still limited to Facebook and Twitter. I was sure there would be API created along with HTML codes to embed the published highlight onto blogs and other links. Another point which I wished that Lightt would take on would be to allow for seamless integration of Facebook comment system. Once you comment on the Lightt highlight on Facebook, it would appear on the Lightt as well.

Please check out the app on the iOS. I personal feel that there is a potential on the service and as a start-up, it would get snapped-up soon.

Write with Write

I have been looking for a reliable method of crafting blog entries on the Nexus device, but had so far been frustrated one way or the other. None of the available softwares have the slickness of Day One app on iOS with its seamless integration between the iPad, iPhone and the Mac desktop. Occasionally I do fancy updating from the Nexus.

So, I came across a new app called Write. Well, not exactly new, but something I just explored. It allowed for direct upload into the SquareSpace app. No more need for cut a paste. Hopefully the transfer and upload worked flawlessly. So, here we go .....

More on the Squarespace Note

So, I had a couple of goes with the Squarespace Note app. Hmm! It uploaded up alright, but unfortunately, it did not reformat the text. As a result, the upload needed plenty of reformatting on the website, which I did not have to do if I were to cut and paste onto the main Squarespace app.

The actually drafting however was such a breeze as the interface was uncluttered. And me being a simple person really love the screen when I type. Only the keyboard and the text appeared on the screen and I could just concentrate on composing.

There was still no iPad equivalent of the app - Day One had one. And the lack of sync between devices and desktop was still a main drawback. For the time ring, I would draft my entry on the app - I was doing it right now - and then paste them over to Day One, and again onto the main app.

It was still only a 1.0 version and I was sure that over time, improvements would appear. Then, things may pick up. I would keep my eyes peeled ....
