Snow World at Genting

RM 48 for a pair of parent and child. It cost me just under a hundred bucks for the four of us to spend 40 minutes in a hall-sized refrigerator. But it was worth it. The boys had great fun, and the 40 minutes just breezed by.

The entrance fee included rent for boots, jacket and gloves. The number of people coming in were regulated, and entrance starts at the half hour, lasting until 10 past. Unfortunately, cameras and phones were not allowed in, and you'd be subjected to some overpriced service for the photographs. A couple of prints set us back a hundred bucks - same as the entrance fee.

By the entrance into the Snow WorldThe hall was decent sized, with three layers. The main floor is flat, allowing you to run around pulling sledge. There was also a couple of igloos, and you could feel the cold when you were inside. It was reminiscent to the walks I had to the lecture halls during my years at university. It was freezing.

Up a flight of stairs, there was another landing, plus a slide - a fast one - on a rubber tub. It was too fast for Idlan although he was initially keen. He chickened out at the top. I had to take the ride for him. Whooosh!

What it looked like on the insideLastly, selecting the photosThere was another area up top through another flight of stairs, and this one may be suitable for some sort of function. Hmmm! A birthday party maybe.

There was no snow flakes, although there were some fine ice on the flooring. Not enough for a snowball fight through, not making a snowman.

It was more fun than I expected actually, and although the entrance fee may appear expensive at the beginning, of was worth it. My boys certainly had fun. Irfan's cheeks were bright red when he came out.

Genting Day Out

We decided in the end to head to avenging rather than Port Dickson. The decision was easy since the boys only got out of bed at 10.30. So, it was about 11 when they were finally ready, and breakfast was in the van.

The traffic was very kind and it took us just 45 minutes to reach the tip from our house. But not too early for lunch.

As always, parking was rather confusing as the sign-posting wasn't exactly user friendly. We went into a lane which turned out to be an exclusive entry for those with special cards. Cards for gamblers maybe. Finally we found a space on a multistory park by the old Genting Hotel. The kot were empty and soon we found ourselves on the way towards the First World Plaza, where most of the indoor attractions were located.

Lunch was the first order of business, and finding an outlet to eat here was straight forward. Most of the main fast food outlets were available here. We had pizza.

While having pizza, we talked about what to do next. Irfan wanted to enter the Snow World, and Idlan wanted to enter Ripley's. So, we had to do both.

I will blog about those separately, but suffice to say it was a great day out. It wad close to 6 pm when we were finally done, and that included a quick look at a magic show at the main lobby and an afternoon tea.

It was really foggy when we reached back to the carpark. And the weather was really cool. We wished that we could take a stroll before we leave but at the top, there were hardly any space to walk.

Another 45 minutes drive back home, and from the looks of things we should have planned for an overnight stay at one of the overpriced hotel here. A project for next visit then ......

Ezyrolling at Titiwangsa

For Idlan's birthday, his Uncle bought him an Ezyroller. A tricycle minus a pedal. One actually propel it by turning the front wheel side to side. And even though it looked rather silly at the beginning, the roller actually worked. And yesterday, we bought another unit for Irfan, and if course helmets, knee and elbow guards. The next step would be to find a suitable ground. And off we went to Titiwangsa.

Boy, did they have fun. And everybody there were staring at the two of them. According to one of the roller blade instructor, he had never seen anything like this. The boys actually cycled around close to two hours before calling it a day.

Since the place was crowded on a Sunday afternoon, I had to walk with them to make sure that they did not run into crowds. It didn't take then long to get the hang of how the Ezyroller worked. Anita on the other hand sat on one of the benches enjoying the nice breeze. She was still recovering from her surgery.

So, for a first outing, the boys really loved the Ezyroller. And they were really easy to use and was great fun.

Enter Sandman

So, what did then boys wanted to watch? Not Wreck-it Ralph. Definitely not them vampire movies. For the last couple of months, they had been talking about Rise of the Guardians. It was towards the end of its run, so getting the tickets was not a problem. The only issue was not that many cinema was still showing it. We were lucky that eCurve was still doing it although the show started later than I hooked for - at 6pm.

My worry was that the boys may be to on tired after the bowling and the afternoon tea. But it turned out OK.

And the movie? It was better than I expected. It started at a fast pace, but dwindled in the middle. I actually fell asleep, before waking up towards the end when the story again picked up. Irfan especially was laughing at the jokes. And the jokes were quite funny. The animation was also quite spectacular. Great fun.

The storyline was also straight forward enough for the boys to understand. Very funny at times although could be quite heavy. Definitely worth the entry fee. Something which I would recommend as a Sunday matinee.

That was a Full Day

For the first time in weeks both Idlan and Irfan went to bed early without much prompting. It wasn't a surprise as they had really had such a busy day. It started out with an early rise. They had a small parry at one of their classmate's house in Setapak. A pool party it was. And they played all morning.

The party did not end there. Straight after lunch - well, I think they skipped lunch, they went straight to Great Eastern Mall to play at the indoor playground there. Spent more than a couple of hours there, until I showed up after work.

That didn't stop them from running around further. Next, we went to my parents house for tea. They then played with their cousin. Idlan had started grumbling by then.

We finally reached home by Maghrib. After shower, then they hit the Xbox. Finally, they gave up soon after asking for bed. I felt tired just describing what they were up to ......

And both of them were snoring away while I wait for the United game later tonight. Well, good luck to me to stay awake ......
