Now It Was His Turn

I have been waiting for the last hour or so for my brother-in-law to come over to the hospital. He was also hit with dengue and would need fluids and admission. As for my Mum-in-law, she seemed to be improving although she was still not out of the woods yet. And Anita was really worried. It was very likely that she would be staying over with her Mum tonight, and I had to take some time preparing for slides tonight. I have a lecture to deliver on Thursday afternoon.

Luckily, the clinic had been light this morning and I was expecting any complicated discharges today. A couple of my patients would still need sorting out though. Hopefully, once things settle down, everything would be back to normal. I would be on call this Saturday though …..

More Monitoring

It seems that Mum would be staying in the hospital for a few more days and the fever was still high. In dengue, the fever usually persist for around five days. Today would be Day 4. The would need constant monitoring. She was still tired and refused breakfast. No appetite.

My brother-in-law just had his own blood test, and was also positive for dengue. Up next would be a cousin of Anita who was also staying at the house. He had been having body ache for the last couple of days. He would have some tests tomorrow. So far, the boys had been fine. I was OK as well.

Next up, we were arranging for the maid to accompany my Mum tonight. We would need a small deck chair. The next couple of days would be a challenge .....

It Ain't Over Yet

I thought that the trips to the hospital for Anita would be a bit less this weekend, but how wrong was I. Anita was OK, but her Mum was admitted Friday and today, it was suspected that she has dengue. The pattern on the blood results were certainly in keeping, and the confirmatory serology would be sent tomorrow.

She was still having fever today, and I suspect that this would still continue for another couple of days. Anita was with her lay night with me and the boys chilling out through the night - we went to bed after midnight. I picked her up from the ward this morning after my morning rounds and now, we were back sending the maid to accompany her tonight. Anita would have to stay back as the boys would be back to school tomorrow.

So, it would be another few days before things went back normal at my household .....

Business As Usual

I was too hungry to start the rounds this morning, so, breakfast took priority. Roti telur. Teh tarik kurang manis, which was the sweetest thing I had tasted in my life.

While waiting for my order, Anita called. This time, it was her mother having high temperature, and she was asking me what she should do. She needs to see a Doctor obviously as there was a virus in our household at the minute. But she was not the type who would see a Doctor.

Anita insisted, and hopefully it was jut a simple virus. Should she get admitted, then then chaos in the house would continue on .....
