Mum Going Home

Both My Mum and brother-in-law was doing much better. My Mum was being discharged today, while my brother would be staying for another evening. Their fever had settled and their platelet counts were heading north. Anita spent last evening cleaning her Mum's room with the maids. She also went out shopping buying groceries and containers for the room. I couldn't tell at what time she went to bed last night.

As for me, I went to bed early with the boys since I would be on call today. Anita was on the way over with the drivers to pick her Mum home and sorting out the discharges. I was waiting for some blood results in clinic. The clinic appeared full. It was Saturday after all.

More Fogging

Finally it was down to Majlis Daerah Gombak to organise the fogging. And they came in one big van. The whole place was shrouded in clouds. The whole of Jalan Delima.

The officer went from house to house to inform them that fogging was taking place. They also erected a big banner informing everybody that here had been cases of dengue recently - my Mum and brother-in-law none the less.

He also informed us that there would be some activities planned for the community in the coming few weeks. There would be talks and also gotong-royong to clear the area, and hopefully stop any more new cases from cropping up.

The sad thing was, the officer was told off by his superior as if the cases were his fault. He would be doing more fogging in the coming weeks to make sure things settle down. He did ask how my Mum and brother was doing. According to him, it had been a while since the last case were reported in our neighborhood. Hopefully when the campaign were launched, people in the neighborhood would be joining in in force.

One Long Day

It was one of those days today. A lot of things going on, and it wasn't over yet. I have yet to get my evening rounds sorted out - would be heading back to the hospital after Maghrib.

I started the day early. For the ward rounds out of the ways before 9 am. I then waited for Anita to arrived. We then had breakfast together - roti canai at a nearby Mamak shop which she said was quite good. That took us close to 10, when I left Anita to start my clinic. After clinic was done, I put the finishing touches for the lecture I delivered after lunch.

Lunch was actually rather good. A buffet at One World Hotel at One Utama. First time I was there actually. Then it was time for my lecture. I had to leave early since I had some stuff to sort out.

I then returned to Gombak and took Anita and Irfan out for an early dinner while waiting for fogging to be organised at the Gombak house. We went to a nearby and had some sushi.

Now, it was time to return to Subang for the evening rounds, and to see what my Mum-in-law and brother was up to. Hopefully Anita would be following along ....

Settling Down

Irfan skipped school today since Anita had to stay the whole morning with her Mum. The initial plan was for her to spend the night last night, but since Mum was feeling much better, she asked Anita to stay with the kids instead. Mum's appetite was much better, and she starting to nag again - which can only be good.

As for my brother-in-law, he was feeling more lethargic. His fever was still high and his platelet count was dropping. His room was on a different level to Mum, so he was not able to walk around there. Anita made sure both of them were settled before leaving to pick Idlan up. As for me, I would have to return tonight for a patient. I would be dropping by to see how things were as well. Maybe I had to drop something for them then.

Let the Fogging Begin

We got a phone call from the Health Authority yesterday about having the house fogged since my Mother-in-law was down with dengue. The call was from the authority in Kuala Lumpur, since the house was under KL postcode. But after a short conversation, we were under the jurisdiction of Selayang, due to some geographical border. The two authority were yet to communicate with each other since they from a separate state.

We decided to get a private company in while the two authority trash things out. They came earlier this afternoon, and things were sorted out rather well. We left the windows open for the fog to enter the house and hopefully get rid of the pesty little mosquitoes.

Luckily the boys were out at their Quran school, as otherwise, Idlan especially would have freaked out. It took about an hour before the fog settled down. Hopefully by now, the place were Aedes-free.
