Finally Discharged

After a full week at SJMC, my father-in-law was really looking forward to return home. Not quite home yet at the moment but was halfway there. He would be doing more physio in the coming weeks and would be staying with us at the apartment for the next week or so.

He was still breathing heavily with effort but was clearly improving slowly. Anita and the two maids were there sorting him out, plus his driver. My brother-in-law would be coming after his work daily to help out as well as joining us for dinner. That certainly liven up the place.

The preparation to head homeNice view from his hospital room, but I don't think Dad is missing this ...Now it was time to sort out his meds ...My job would be to sort out his meds. There had been a few changes since the admission and in two weeks he would have his follow-up again. Very likely he would be staying with us until then.

Good thing that we had converted the study into a bedroom. The timing was perfect ...

Anita Discharged

Anita was feeling a lot better and this morning, she managed to convince the Surgeon enough to let her be discharged. There was no stopping the word home was mentioned. She then duly called home to make sure that the boys - who were supposed to come during lunch today - to wait for her at home instead. No turning back now!

Her drain was soon removed, and now she was walking around the room excitedly. The bills were being organised now, and I would soon be picking up the medications prior to discharge. But not before she had some lunch. She was starving since the morning. And that was a good sign as it showed that her appetite was back.

I will be driving her home with the maid today as we have already told the driver to wait up at home.

Discharged

Yes. Finally Dad was allowed to go home. And how desperate was he. I don't think he can take another day in the ward. Not that he was not happy with the treatment or anything, more about being relieved that all was over. Since the angiogram and stent insertion, he felt better and staying at the hospital was perceived as being a burden to us. We assured him that it wasn't at all.

He got the news pending a blood result in the afternoon. As soon as the result was out, he got ready almost straight away even though it took me some time to sort the prescriptions and the bills out. Even though he is a Government Pensioner, we still had to pay for the cost of equipment during the stenting. So there were bills to be settled.

I had to stay at the hospital after he left as I have a Society meeting to attend to after 5pm at UMMC. It was time to pack when I reached home. The troupe will be heading for PD on Saturday, staying the evening there. First out-of-town outing for the Estima. Looking forward to that.

My Dad had his CT scan earlier today and now he was allowed discharged. I was rather tied up with the ward duty and was only able to sort out the bills and stuff right at the end. He was really bored by now and he was really glad that he can go home. Back to his usual magazines and TV. On my end, I was giventhe duty of checking his blood until his Warfarin dosing stabilise.

Irfan and Idlan were in good spirit at home. There will be a small matter of Sports Day coming up this Saturday. He did not tell me which event he will be participating. Managed to free my Saturday morning to be present.
