Discharge!

My Dad had his CT scan earlier today and now he was allowed discharged. I was rather tied up with the ward duty and was only able to sort out the bills and stuff right at the end. He was really bored by now and he was really glad that he can go home. Back to his usual magazines and TV. On my end, I was giventhe duty of checking his blood until his Warfarin dosing stabilise.

Irfan and Idlan were in good spirit at home. There will be a small matter of Sports Day coming up this Saturday. He did not tell me which event he will be participating. Managed to free my Saturday morning to be present.

An early start

Got up early. The boys made us promise them that we will take them to the beach early in the morning. Anita and the maids were also keen to go on the banana boat today. Me with my bad back had to stay at the beach babysitting. The weather is warm and we are bracing ourselves for some proper sunburn!

Weekend Activities

It has been a busy weekend in the household with the birthday party and last ditch open houses. The last weekend being the final weekend of Ramadhan and all. My sister hosted her daughter's and husband's birthday party on Saturday. My Auntie also traveled all the way from Sg Petani to visit us. The party went on all afternoon. In the evening, there was the Premier League fix after the two weeks international break. The result went United's way apart from Arsenal hitting form. The fiasco with the beach balloon in Sunderland really made my weekend.

On Sunday, we went to over to Cheras to attend Anita's cousin's open house. Likely going to be the last for the Syawal. Spend some time there but had to return early since I was taking my family for dinner that evening. We went to Cozy Corner in Ampang Park, a favourite spot for Anita's family but we were really disappointed last night. The food was off the mark this time around. The steak was dry, the noodles was not nice, even the fish and chips were soggy. Have they changed the chef? It was a disappointing end for a lovely weekend.

Monday arrived today and I spent the evening after work sifting through the photos taken during the weekend. Finally managed to do some post-processing on them and got evething on order. Unfortunately, I am at my Taman Cemerlang residence minus the broadband. Uploading the pix onto my site was a pain. May have to swing over to the Taman Setia home to upload it later in the week. I also need to use the printer to print some articles at some stage in the week. My friend's from college were also asking if I will be playing badminton tonight. Unfortunately it is difficult to leave Anita and the boys alone at Cemerlang and the game only starts at 9. After finishing at 11.30, I am sure that the Terendak boys wanted to hang around for a session of teh tarik. Might be playing next week we are back in Setia.

Adventure Saturday - Part 2

Irfan's venture at picture taking, originally uploaded by Haris Abdul Rahman. That's my hand that is still hurting after badminton tonight! I'm old!

After we were done with Sg Kanching, everyone felt peckish, especially yours truly. Since I have to go settle my credit card bill, we decided to head for Bukit Bintang. We reached Pavillion about 30 minutes after we left Sg Kanching.

Idlan enjoying his fried riceWhile Irfan couldn't care less ... he prefers golf instead!Idlan wanted his fix for MSG, so we had some sushi while the kids have their tappenyaki fried rice and miso. I then left for Bukit Bintang while Anita and the kids went shopping in Pavillion. I then realised that there is a new fountain built outside the main entrance towards Sg Wang. Boy, there were teenagers around congregating there, punks, goth and all. Identity crisis I thought! Kudo told me that I sounded like an old fart making comments like those on twitter. So I better shut up!

The new fountain outside PavillionWhen I returned, they were just about to take their seat at Godiva cafe. I ordered a hot black chocolate, and it was heavenly. It cost me RM16 for a pot, and it pours for 3+ cups. It was a bargain! I sipped every last drop. Idlan wanted some chocolates, and the waitress duly showed him around. It then dawned on me that a small piece of chocolate will set me back RM9.50 plus tax! Idlan happily picked 4! Argh!!!! But what my baby wants, my baby gets!

Chocoloate served on a platter .... Yummy! It was served on a plate, and Idlan just gulped them in one go and asked for more! We settled in the end for a box of chocolates for him to take home. Won't tell you how much that cost. He finished them all last night!

Today is Monday, back to work. A lot of things needed catching up,and I am due to give a lecture tomorrow morning. Anita was complaining that I a growing fat. So I decided to head out for the badminton session with my ex-Terendak boys. It was a mistake. My fingers flared up again and it is hurting even now. If it is still giving me grief in the next few days, I think I better get it checked out.

Decision made and plan changed

The last couple of weeks has been a difficult one for me on the personal front! No, my wife still loves me ... or at least she said so. No, UMMC has not sussed me out that I am not that cool a doctor. But it became clear that my planned Australian sojourn is just not viable. My close family expressed deep reservation about uprooting my family for the coming four years and after some deep thinking .... they have a point! However, I don't think this if any, is an appropriate forum to discuss it in detail.

So, I will stay put. I will consider my options. There are a few. I still think that research is something I want to do in the future apart from teaching. It is not that I am not keen to see patients, but I feel I can be a more effective physician if I broaden my horizon. At the end it will come down to personal choices and I realise there are so many advise you can seek but there will come a time when you, yours truly will have to swallow the pill and face the music.

Should any of my friends read this, yes, you all will still have to put up with me for the foreseeable future. I must say that my seniors has been anything but understanding about my decision. Since I made it, I have to confess that I have an extra spring in my step. My family was certainly happy with it, and at this point I think that is more important.
