Food and Football

After clearing the mess at the house, we went out for a date, Puan Anita and I. I fancied some wagyu beef. Off we went to Yuzu at KLCC. The last time we went there must've been a couple of months before puasa.

Really hit the spot and as usual, I overeaten. Being post-call, it didn't take much to make me doze off. By the time all the food was in my tummy, driving hone proved to be a challenge.

It's all gone ....Quick nap when I reached home, and woke up in time to catch a bit of Cardiff v Man City. Couldn't believe Cardiff pulled a fast one of Citeh!

United won't be playing until early hours of tomorrow morning. A curtain raiser at Old Trafford, when we welcome Jose Mourinho's return with his Chelsea outfit. Should be an interesting one, although the pre-match banter was a bit of a tame one ..... we need more needle!

The New Season

A new era would begin tonight. David Moyes would lead Manchester United in the Charity Shield tonight. Not exactly a competitive match, and it was against Wigan. The stakes however would be much higher than what it looked on paper.

Moyes' reign didn't exactly start in glory. They lost a couple of games in their recent Far East tour. The honeymoon period did not last long. So, we shall see how things pan out tonight  .....

I will be watching the game at my Mum's place. In the new United home strip of course! GGMU!

Farewell Dinner

Not the typical dinner. And nobody was actually leaving on a journey, at least in my household. But as per my weekly ritual of tandoori and mee ladna prior to a United match, I'm not sure if that's going to continue under the Moyes regime. Will it still work? Will my colleague Palmdoc has to up his alcohol intake from merely some shandy?

But for the moment, the tandoori and ladna had been arranged for old time sake. The boys would be getting to bed early, so that Mum and Dad can watch the game. And wish farewell to Sir Alex.

Happy Retirement Sir.

Goodbye Becks

I woke up at 4 am for the toilet and being Sunday morning just couldn't force myself back to sleep. So I went to have quick peek at the TV and the headline was Beckham crying himself off the pitch when his number was held up to be substituted in his last ever professional match. Becks had retired.

A sad but inevitable day in football but keep in mind that he's 38. Only Giggsy got the stamina to carry on through all the years.

This brought back the memory of actually being awestruck by the man around 11 years back at Manchester's Trafford Centre. It was at The Selfridges and Anita noticed this stunningly good looking bloke being surrounded by the staffs. It was Becks, and he obliged to sign an autograph for us. Yes, I actually had to ask since Anita was paralysed.

It was around 11 in the morning, and I was sure he was just back from a training session. He was still in his trainers then, and still he looked amazing. I had a mancrush on him ever since .....

Fergie Time

Finally, Sir Alex's prepared his final team sheet at Old Trafford. The end of an era and all the tribute had been said.

I actually fell asleep during game, but Anita actually stayed up and recorded a the whole celebration for me to see. Bless her!

During all this party, Scholes kept his low profile whole playing his last game at his home ground as well. Media-shy, he slipped in the background while the headlines were being made about Sir Alex and Wayne Rooney's transfer request.

The celebration at the end was pure gold. The speech from Sir Alex indicated that he would be doing his utmost to protect the incoming David Moyes. It was great scene all around. Now, Anita had been has long me to sign up onto MUTV to see the celebration parade live from Manchester City Centre. Good luck to me.
