Return to Marmalade

We moved Idlan's Lego camp to today from initially yesterday. That meant that I had to spend the afternoon at Bangsar Village, watching Irfan finish his delicious-looking pizza at Marmalade.

We have not been back to Marmalade for quite a while. There was a birthday party going on then, so we ha to settle for a table near the entrance. The good thing about Marmalade - and for that matter Fit For 2, on the top floor - they cater specifically for children. The menu was just right for them, basically a mix-and-match affair. You take one meal, and pair it with your drinks for a fixed price, and the choices were pretty good. and there were nice desserts to go with it for the parents.

And the milkshake to go with the pizzaIt was all done. Contrary to the reports on Facebook, I did not give a hand to finish off the pizza! There were macaroni and cheese, pizza and other pasties. Irfan had a mini-pizza and vanilla milkshake. As usual, he would pick the pieces of onions away from the main dough. But he managed to gobble everything down by the end - minus the onion bits of course!

Just in case you were with a child the next time you were in Bangsar Village are, do give either Marmalade on level 1 or Fit For 2 on level 3, a visit. You would be pleased!

T Forty Two

After the Haematology forum was done, I caught up with Anita and the boys at Bangsar Village II. Idlan had just finished his Lego class, and had not had lunch yet. Even though I had already had some nasi briyani for lunch after the forum, I wouldn’t mind having something light. We wanted to go to Citrus, but halfway, we came across ’T four two’ on the first floor - not the Upper Ground floor with the bridge from Village II to the old Bangsar Village - and gave it a go. It has a nice serene garden ambiance, and the main attraction was of course tea …. and the teapots.

There were many variety of teas on display, and we as usual would either have chamomile or English Breakfast. We ordered a pot to share around - I had some mocha to stay awake after being up since four that morning. For food, I ordered crabmeat nicouse salad, and Anita ordered steak to share with the boys. My salad was not too bad. The crabmeat was succulent but they used to much vinaigrette for the dressing, and I had to use lemon to neutralise the taste. Anita’s steak was too raw despite ordering medium well. We had to cut this slices of the edges to share with the boys. It did came with French Fries but not gravy. The steak ended up being too dry.

The tea was something else, with variety to choose from, and the tacky teapots.

The nice ambianceThe colourful teapotsMy crabmeat saladThe ever-too-dry steak

I guess the place made for a nice spot to have either light lunch or afternoon tea, to share with friends. The spot we picked was basically a garden bench, which was nice and comfortable. The lightings were both bright and subdued, very cosy indeed. We did not order dessert, but from what I saw, they looked yummy. They also offer tea for two package for around RM60, which included drinks, sandwiches and dessert. Maybe one could go for that for value.

But for heavy meal, I suggest maybe you ought to go somewhere else - Delicious at the Ground Floor may be. The place was also not really cheap. They also have another outlet at Empire Gallery, Subang. For contacts - Bangsar Village II (Bistro), Bangsar Village II, 1F-28 & 1F-K2 First Floor, No. 1 Jalan Telawi Satu, Bangsar Baru,, 59100 Kuala Lumpur, Tel:+ 6 03 2287 6566. The Facebook page is here.

Return to Express Sushi

It has been a while since I visited Express Sushi at Great Eastern Mall, arguably the best sushi fast-food outlet in town. Miles better the more accessible Yo! Sushi at least. Since coming here a couple of years ago, the main chef - Eric has been busy with another of their outlet. There was a period last year that the quality went down a bit, but today it was almost back to when I first came.

The ramen for startersSince it was just a quick stop, we had to be quick. They now have a lunch menu which came in handy. My set - salmon teriyaki set - came with ramen, potato salad and a bowl of rice. Not bad for RM26 actually.

And the mains has arrivedBut they were soon goneThe outlet is located on the Lower Ground Floor of Great Eastern Mall, next to Delifrance.

Congratulations All Around

My Boss for the last seven years had just been made a full Professor. She took me and the rest of the crew out for lunch earlier today. The initial plan was to go to delicious, but judging from how they messed up our orders the last time we went over for lunch, we decided to give it a miss. After much deliberation we decided to go for Madam Kwan in Telawi. Fearing the place would be packed, we booked the table beforehand.

All was done .... burp!
We reached there in good time. All my previous tutors were present, which was nice. We caught up with news as some of them had retired. It was quite a long affair and it was way past 3 pm when we reached the ward. Then, the work piled in .......

Back to reality

I woke up late this morning. Really tired. Drove to work to check what needed doing. It turned out that the Deputy Director made a surprise visit to our Day Care, so I spent some time showing him around. Since today was a quiet day - we do not run a full Day Care on a Tuesday - he would return back tomorrow.

Then I went on to do some paperwork, before deciding to go home a bit early. Managed to pass some tit bits to the nurses from London - couldn't afford to buy much as I ran out of cash after my shopping spree. Then it was time for lunch - at one of the MRR2 stops on the home.
