Holiday Monday

Nope! It had nothing to do with Datuk Lee Chong Wei's exploit in the Olympics yesterday. It was Nuzul Quran. And this was the first time I had this holiday as in my last job in UMMC, I was working in Kuala Lumpur. Selangor - as well as Perlis, Penang, Perak, Kelantan, Terengganu and Pahang - had the day off.

The plan for me today? Babysitting. As Anita would be going out with my Sister and Mum again for their Raya shopping. I would be with the boys at the apartment after my morning rounds. Just praying that I did not have to go to the hospital during this period as Anita would have to rush back home …..

Hmm! And it looked rather hazy out there as I peered through the window in my study before heading for my morning shower …..

Pro Tip!

This was what was on the table in front of me while I waited for Puan Anita to finish her shopping at the tailor yesterday. "Zarina beri tip buat isteri kedua" - Zarina offers tip for the second wive. Look, I knew that she is probably some VIP's trophy wife, but don't go around beating your gong ….. suffice to say I just smirked and ignored it. I was sure she won't be giving tips if she were the first wive just firing out that her husband just married another one ….. Now, that would be some reading!

Wangsa Walk Mall

Wangsa Walk Mall had prospered in the last couple of years from an uncertain beginning. It was opened right after another mall nearby - a Jusco - at Keramat, and initially, it was not very popular.
But, things had picked up since, to the detriment of Jusco. In fact, in the last couple of months, a fair few restaurant at the Jusco complex had closed, in keeping with the dwindling number of shoppers. Even Justin Beiber turned up at Wangsa Walk on his last trip to KL!
Shopping at Wangsa Walk during Ramadhan proved a pain. The car park was full, and the place was packed with stalls spilling onto the corridors. Rather messy if you had to babysit a couple of disinterested children.
The theme for the Raya decorations there was Upin & Ipin. They even made appearances today, but my boys were the least bit amused. The place was too packed for theirs and my liking. And the shopping was not really cheap there either.
Anita and I went there for shopping the other day, and ended up going to another mall because the kids were playing up. But we might return minus the boys, if we could get there early enough on the day, before the car park being filled .....
Wangsa Walk Mall is located in Wangsa Maju, near the exit from DUKE ....

Shopping Day

So, it had been a full afternoon. After the ward round was sorted out, I took Anita to Jon my Mum and Julia, my sister at Wangsa Walk Mall for their Raya shopping. I was doing the babysitting, and the boys were creating havoc, big time.

Plenty was shopping done, and after a couple of hours, we went to another shop near my Mum's house. Being a shop, there were plenty of space for the boys to roam around. And it was air conditioned as well.

The shop was owned by a friend of Julia's, called Tasbeeh, situated right above Pegaga restaurant where we frequent. Nice selections there, and the boys seemed content, and Anita got what she wanted.

But she planned to go to Ampang Park tomorrow. With Selangor being public holiday, I would be able to baby sit them at the apartment. So, plan for tomorrow sorted out .....

Cotton Pickings

Irfan not happy to try the new clothesAnita was anxious to finish off the Raya shopping this afternoon. For the children, her favorite place to get Baju Melayu would be at Great Eastern Mall. More specifically, a shop selling mainly children clothes called Cotton Pickings. We had been going there since Idlan was a baby and every year we get the Baju Melayu from there.

I don't think that this one was for saleAnd this year's selection did not disappoint. And at a reasonable price as well. To be honest, Anita picked more than a pair for for each of the boys, some for the Quran classes according to her. If you were looking for Baju Melayu or Kurung for your children this Eid, you could do worst than give Cotton Pickings a visit. For Ramadhan, they have a stall at the main foyer at GE Mall. Failing that, the shop is located on the second floor, for more selection. Well worth a trip.
