Up KL Tower

This year, the boys' school trip would be up the KL Tower. And Idlan was afraid of heights. He had been up the tower a few times before, but always with us. Letting him loose alone next month may cause a bit of a worry, especially to Puan Anita. So, her brilliant idea today would be to take a trip there and familiarise Idlan, making sure he won't be creating a scene on his next trip.

How about Irfan? He preferred just to stay at home and play with his games. He was still recovering from the recent virus, so we wouldn't kind leaving him at home.

Apparently the restaurant up the tower had been renovated. It was now run by a different company. We didn't go to the restaurant this time, but from what vi saw on the leaflets things had changed. We went straight for the observation deck and lingered around there for almost half an hour.

The front line staffs were all Malay - not Malaysian but Malay. But the support staffs - those who manned the stores and security were all foreigners. Which defeats the purpose really as the high fees to get in put off most of the locals. Tourists being serviced by foreign workers at one of the main attraction at the capital? Should I be surprised?

Anyhow, the front line staffs were really helpful. There was a race being held there in the morning according to the posters. A race from the bottom up the tower using the stairs. Hmmm! Not my kind if race.....

At the walkways by the entrance, there was a mango exhibit taking place for the weekend. Unfortunately, there was not much left on the Sunday afternoon. After all, the Menteri and the likes had been and gone. No point showing their wares to the actual punters. Sad fact! But even the staffs there admitted to that.

After we were done walking around, we caught the sign that there would be a path leading up to the tower entrance through the Bukit Nanas Forest Reserve. It was still being built, but I'm sure it would be grand once it was completed. I would definitely be giving it a visit, although Anita insisted on doing the path from the top of the hill downwards. Not the other way round.

It turned out to be a good day out actually. With the hot weather, we could do with a nice drink right after. So, we headed straight to Pavilion.

Back to School

After a couple of days away, Idlan is now back at school this morning. He seemed energised and did not complain when he got up. The same cannot be said about Irfan, back to his usual whinging self. But they both went off to school.

Our maid would be away from tomorrow - being Good Friday - for the whole weekend. We were contemplating spending time at the apartment, but unfortunately, the boys had some exams coming up in a couple of week. I would also be on call on Sunday, leaving them alone at the apartment, probably bored.

At least them going to school brought some relief to us as Idlan was really toxic only a couple of nights back ….

Irfan's Family

Irfan had to draw his family during one of his class assignments last week. In was due to be handed in later this week, and so far he had only had the outline done. He was asking us what to do with the background.

But to be honest, even the outline alone was a winner. It was a cute drawing nonetheless. Well done Irfan.

Long Day of Firsts

It had been a long day. For Anita especially. I only joined in at the beginning and at the end. A hectic day of zooming across town to sort out my clinics, reaching home via a referral at Ara Damansara. Now looking forward to a nice dinner and a nice relaxing evening.

Irfan had an exciting day. First day at Year One and also his first day at Al Manar Academy, even though he had had lessons at home from an Ustazah who came once a week. He managed to skip a couple of classes today as he could already read the Quran.

Anita had yet to grasp that she would have a six hour gap during the day which she could enjoy in the middle of the day. She would find something to keep her busy after looking after the kids since Idlan was a baby. Now with both of them at school from 8 to 3, more time for her.

First Day

Anita hardly slept last night. She was still up when I woke up to go to the toilet at 4 am. She couldn't sleep, and watched TV instead after getting the boys' bags sorted out. I was sure she was groggy all morning.

Irfan looked nervous during breakfastWe reached the school at 7.45 and went straight for the assembly. Irfan settled in very well when he went into his classroom. He was familiar with the class teacher from his kindergarten days. Then teachers then updated us with the new teaching system. They did away with the black boards and whiteboards, going all digital now. And it wasn't just a normal digital board. It was projections and one just had to use a special stylus on the projection to interact with it. Neat! But let's see what it could offer.

I had to leave after 9 to start my clinic. Anita would be coming back for lunch to meet up with the boys. It wouldn't finish yet as Irfan would be attending Al Manaar for the first time this afternoon. So, I would be coming home early to take him to school this evening.
