It Was Definitely Down

As I walked towards the car park on the way home just now, the couple of panels which the apparition appeared on had been replaced by dark panes. They had finally managed to bring the window panes down. I then noticed a sign for the public announcing that the windows were lowered this morning at about 10 am without incident. The panels were transported to the Catholic Church, Our Lady of Lourdes in Klang. I imagine the faithful would be congregating there soon ........

Breakfast. Finally.

This week was a weird one. We had holidays on Tuesday (Deepavali) and Thursday (Awal Muharram), not to mention the usual weekend break. Unfortunately for me, I was not able to get much break until the Thursday as I was on call both on the previous Sunday and Deepavali Tuesday. And the call had been hectic.

I started my rounds early this morning - I was not able to get much sleep last night as I was interrupted by phone calls and could not get back to sleep. I ended up watching football instead - many draws from what I can see. So, when I returned home starving, Anita had prepared me a brunch. It had been a while since Anita had managed to cook for me. She had always been busy with the kids. For the week, all of us stayed at the apartment, so we had more time to ourselves, and it saved me from having to travel far for work being on call and stuff.

Looking forward to a relaxing day and weekend …. and it was only Thursday!

Heavier Traffic

I decided to get in early as to avoid the crowd and true enough, there were plenty of people at the hospital by 8.30 am. I completed my morning rounds and saw the admissions who came in late, and by the time that was done, the crowd had really built up.

At least things were more organised today, at least tragic-wise. RELA staffs were employed to direct the flow of traffic and making sure the pedestrian do not walk into the car lane. Whistles all around and I suspect as the publicity get more universal, more people would come. I shudder at the thought.

So, it was lunchtime. Should I go out as I normally do on Monday mornings? Maybe not. I didn't think it was worth the hassle of having to be caught in heavy traffic later on, having to rush to my afternoon clinic. I suspect some of the patients would get delayed. So, let's brave the hospital lunch.

A Smooth Start

After a whirlwind start to the morning, sorting out the admissions, I had a breather at the Lounge while waiting for the clinic list to start.

As I mentioned, it would not be a typical Saturday today. Straight after clinic, I would be driving across town to a mini conference, before attending a meeting after that. Then, for dinner, it would be one of my cousin's reception. That would not be a problem as it would be near my house.

What I was worried was the traffic when it rained. This being a Saturday, I hope things would be kind even if the heaven opened.

Among all that, I couldn't find a slot for Skyfall. Hmm! Maybe Sunday matinee. Puan Anita, are you game?

Post Call Blues

Post call had always been a mixed bag for me. I have been a doctor for 15 years now, but there was no hiding that bit of elation when you knew that your call was over. Slight change though in private practice as you were still in direct charge of the patients you admitted, but at least you could sort of like predict why the next time your phone ring. And you knew that it would less likely be from the Emergency Room.

So, the call last night was OK. Most of the admission came during a more sociable hours. One ICU admission, but the patient was pretty stable once there. But I still felt that lack of sleep come the afternoon after. At least there was no clinic this afternoon, and I was doing some paperwork, as well reading up on the latest gossips and news.

It looked like it was going to rain soon. And that would mean horrendous traffic jam again. I couldn't go to the hospital any earlier than 3pm as the road I used would pass in front of Sri KL, and there would be rows of parents picking up their children just after three. The traffic? Forget it. These affluent folks were really bad when it came to being gracious on the road. In fact, they tended to be the worst …..

So, I had to wait for a while at the apartment before I drove back. I think it would take me an hour and a half to finish the rounds later. With a bit of luck, I would reach Gombak before Maghrib. And then dinner, and a bit of sleep hopefully.
