Not Another One

It was a Sunday. The last Sunday of the year. Time for my weekend round. the last call was somewhat busy and I had at least 3 hours of work of reviewing to do. But it was a Sunday. That meant that I could take my time and have an extra time to chat with my patients.

One of my dengue patient happened to be an MAS flight attendant. She was doing very well in terms of her infection, but it looked like she would be missing a couple of flight in the coming days. She was due to be in the Middle East on New Years Night. But due to her admission, she would be on leave.

Then she told me that an Air Asia flight went missing. She was waiting to hear about it. The news were only started giving flashes on TV. Nothing concrete yet.

But it soon materialized that QZ8501. It looked like the weather some something to do with that happened but it could be anything. Praying for their safe return. A swift resolution ....

If somebody were to tell me a year ago that Malaysia would be hit by a triple whammy of aviation accidents in 2014, I would have pointed out that they had had too much to drink. Nobody would've believed it.

Thistle PD

Thistle PD had always been one of our favorite stop when we were in PD, usually for a quick lunch or afternoon tea. It used to be called Guomon, and famous for its golf link. But we were there mostly to chill.

We went there this time for a quick lunch and the food was still fine. Not a fan for staying there since it doesn't have a good beach, the apartment was way better for that ....

We were rushing to go home this time around and wasn't able to have a good look around. It must've been a couple of years since I last stopped at the place.

The Evening Dip

I was not lucky this time around. The evening before, the sunset was gorgeous. The afternoon which I had the chance to have a dip at the beach, the sunset was more of the cumulonimbus variety. At least, there was no risk of sunburn!

I went to the beach after taking a nap. Anita and the boys were already out when I got up. We spent a nice couple of hours, playing ball and making castle before finally leaving just after the sun was down.

The beach was not too crowded as it was midweek. There was enough room for everybody. Anita wanted to try one of those sand buggy but was put off after hearing how much they wanted to charge. And I don't personally think it was safe as well. They didn't even provide a proper sets of helmet.

I had to drive back to KL the same evening as I had clinic the next morning. After showers, we went out for dinner at the Golf Club. The drive home was a pleasant one. I reached Bangsar just before 11pm.

Rest in Peace Sir

This morning, SJMC mourned the passing of a truly great colleague, Dr Sabri. A pioneer Neurologist, he lost a long battle against cancer although he was still at work last Ramadhan.

Unfortunately I was on call today and was unable to attend his funeral scheduled for this lunch time. Many of his colleagues attended to him during his last illness and he was still a gentleman even though we realized that things were not going to plan.

He met his Maker this morning and the mood during the morning round was a somber one. He was much loved at the hospital and everybody wishes his family condolences, and Dr Sabri to be in Jannah. Alfatihah.

Teluk Kemang Afternoon

Right after lunch at Thistle, I asked for the driver to drop Anita and I at Teluk Kemang while the rest of the troupe going straight back to the apartment. I wanted some time by the sea, enjoying the breeze, and maybe some ABC to boot.

And it was a pleasant afternoon indeed, spending about an hour by the small shade at the beach, enjoying the sea breeze. Not to mention the ABC - unfortunately of the diabetic-friendly variety. Watered down despite the bright colouring. Typical!

We had to pay rental for the shades, and it was charged by the day. So, despite just there for under an hour, we had to pay the full RM15 day rental! Easy prey these lot! But the shade and the sea breeze proved too inviting, and the RM15 was well worth it.

To the beach next!
