Back to the Grind

Idlan had taken a liking to the burger at the Daily Grind. He asked me to get some for him for dinner when he arrives at the apartment a bit later.

I decided to have some of my own while the take-out was being prepared. And the burger wasn't half bad at all.

The mocha was a lot better than I expectedThe burger portion was too big for a light snack but just right for dinner. Eating it by hand was a bit messy as the burger and the trimmings were quite thick and full of sauces. Not pretty.

But they were fresh and the drinks were nice. I had a mocha whole it was drizzling outside. It was perfect. Definitely recommended.

Another Look at BBM

The clinic had been slow this morning which I couldn't really complain as it had been hectic since I returned from the break. And tomorrow going to be busy again.

So, I spent some time going through the news. It was all dominated by new releases from CES - Consumer Electronic Show in Las Vegas. New cameras, new phones, TV and the likes. But what cough my eyes was the iteration from BlackBerry on their new version of BBM. Still due to be released, but it promised to be true cross-platformed.

It was compelling enough an announcement that I booted up my Z10, and installed the BBM on my iPhone. Just to see how well it worked.

The main problem with WhatsApp was the fact that you'd need to give away your phone number. With this, it was like giving away your email but minus the possibility of spam - although I was sure that would come.

So, I would want to give BBM a try yet again. Good luck to me!

Alone at the Apartment

I had to attend to a patient late tonight and rather than returning back to Gombak in the middle of the night, I decided to stay at the apartment rather. So, I was alone. At least for tonight.

Since there would be a couple of holidays next week - Tuesday being Maulud Rasul and Friday Thaipusam - we decided to stay at the apartment for the week.

Ended up watching tennisSo, what would I be doing tonight? The Australian Open tennis official film was on TV. Might as well watch that one.

CNY at Pavilion

It was almost a tradition. At least for me. I would have to check out the decorations at Pavilion every time Chinese New Year festivities came. Who could forget the four-storie dragon adorning the main foyer from a few years back?

This year, being the year of the horse, the celebration was less grand. But as decorations go, it was pretty elaborate at Pavilion.

Since they were still in the process of turning around the Xmas decor, the main foyer were still closed. They seemed to have retained the ride from the Xmas decorations, which made perfect sense actually. They had lantern sprouting down entrance as well as around the famous lotus fountain.

I actually went to Pavilion that afternoon to have a look around. Luckily I brought my camera with me and managed to snap away. Might as well, as I wasn't sure if in could return before the CNY festivities end.

Windows of Jonker

I have to admit that there was a certain charm about Jonker Street, at least to photographers. The place is photogenic to the hilt, at so many levels.

I went to photograph it early in the morning to enjoy the golden light against the colourful windows and building facade. You can go in the afternoon to join the crowd and do a bit of street photography. Then there is always the night photography ton different kind of crowd.

Then there is the food - a whole variety of it - and the many watering hole if you're that way inclined. The shopping experience was a revelation as well. Many of the antique and collectable items would've cost a lot more in KL.

But for the walk I had last weekend, I was fascinated by the colours of the rows of shophouses there. Nice contrast, bright and festive. And it went on all year long, not around the Chinese New Year.

Certainly Jonker Street is a photographer's delight. I wished that I had a few friends with me who were familiar with the area as a guide.
