Morning with Puan Anita

Puan Anita followed me to the hospital today, to have a check-up on her knee. She had been having pain on it for some time, and this morning, it suddenly flared up again. I managed to get one of my Orthopaedic friends to have a look at it, and all was sorted.

After sorting out my ward patients, we went out for late breakfast in Bangsar. I needed to get some groceries done as well as sorting out some paperwork. Wow! Even at 10.30 am, Chawan and the Telawi area was already full. I used to envy people who worked on their own. Now that I was sort of in a similar position, I appreciate it a lot more.

Back to clinic in the afternoon however.

Afternoon Chill

I was dead tired by the time I finished this clinic this morning. Managed to do a couple of procedures as well, and now, I was just sitting at the Doctor's lounge waiting to do the afternoon rounds a bit earlier.

I had some errands to run, and later look through at some of the photographs I took while I was in Penang yesterday. It looked promising and I plan to organise them with a narrative in my blog.

As for now, I need to get some sleep ....

Guilty!

It wouldn't be a trip to Penang without the customary binge on laksa, cendol, nasi kandar and the likes. I was guilty of that, even though the purpose of coming back this time was for the funeral.

We had a late lunch after all was settled. Nasi kandar, cendol, and of course soon to be laksa ...... help!

After the event

Finally, the funeral was done. More doa to follow this evening for sure, but now, the clan was congregating at the house at Pahang Road. Another chapter closed.

As for me, we were discussing on when to leave. My brother-in-law, Salleh, could only take today off. He had to leave today. I might as well follow suit.

The initial plan was to take today and tomorrow off, but with me coming back to KL today, I had decided to reopen the clinic tomorrow. I also had a few procedure to do, postponed from today.

Next stop after Pahang Road would be my Aunt's place in Sungai Petani for a quick shower and early dinner. We probably leave after Maghrib.

MasterPaces Is Back

This was the third edition. The third edition of the MasterPaces program organised by Hospital Sungai Buloh. And the fact that I was invited the third time around as a faculty member was always a good thing.

The organiser was also nice enough to not put me on the Saturday morning slot, as I had clinic and ward round to do. Right after sorting out an admission, I rushed across to Sungai Buloh - only a 20 minutes drive via the NKVE, and got there in time for lunch and then straight to business.

Saturday was a mock day, where the candidates were divided into groups of four of five and they rotate across eight stations, allowing everybody to be assessed and thought by the faculty members. I had two sessions, an abdominal station, followed by station 5, the integrated clinical station where the candidates interact and examine a patient during a 10 minutes exchange. Fast and furious.

Sunday would be the mock exam day. Personally, I had to drive to Subang first, see my few patients, and then be at Sungai Buloh by 8.30. Early start .....
