Midnight Snack

Saturday night, and as usual the mamak would be full with the crowd watching football, or was just out having a drinks with friend. The Saturday night last night was spent near the ICU while waiting for reports, and my drinks and football only happened after midnight.

I brought some food to share with Anita at the boys at the apartment, and when I arrived, the boys were still up. Anita was famished, and the food could never have come at a better time.

Waiting for my take-out while catching up on the footballSo, we enjoyed our post-midnight snacks before going to bed. Thank God there were no more admission after midnight and I was able to get some rest. We would be returning to Gombak later in the afternoon, much to the protest of the boys …..

Slow Afternoon

I was on call today, but the day had been kind so far. A couple of admissions into general ward, and the customary ICU transfer now settling in nicely and improving fast.

The boys and Anita was at the apartment, with our maid being excused for the afternoon to meet her friends and transfer some money home. She and her sisters had been updated constantly about what was happening back home with Typhoon Haiyan on the rampage. She appeared worried.

It was also raining outside and with the cool draft in and around the apartment, Irfan was having his nap. Things appeared quiet at home, which was nice to see. Unfortunately, we would be heading back to Gombak tomorrow. Idlan had been sulking during lunch about having to move back. He had really grown fond of having his own space at the apartment. He had been lining up his toys and Lego bricks all morning. What to do …..

Bright Start

The boys had already left for school and since it took only 15 minutes to drive to the hospital, I left late. And I had plenty of time to myself before leaving.

I took the time to enjoy my breakfast and check up on the news. And with the sun shining outside, I might just as well enjoy the morning. But the serenity didn't last long. Ward round, and then clinic to take me back to Thursday.

Oh well ...

Happy New Year

It had been a full day of running around today and I hardly had the to reflect on the last year and my plans and aspiration for the coming year.

I had achieved a lot in the last year in terms of personal goals, but there were still a lot to strive for. By this time next year, I wished that I could strike a better balance between personal and working live.

New path in my career had certainly caused a fair share of grieve for me as I had always value the time with my family. Oftentimes, there were tremendous pressure on my time and I wished that I could strike a better and a more meaningful balance between the two.

The second target would be to take better care of myself physically and health wise. I wanted to eat healthier and hopefully spent less time on the road commuting. That would include the plan to move to Bangsar some time in the new year. I could also do with a bit more physical exercise rather than tearing my hair out in the traffic jam.

Yes, my goals were personal and one could argue rather selfish. But I always feel that you must always plan for yourself and your family first before anything else. I was just not that ambitious. It may be perceived as a weakness but as usual, I always make plans. Whether I managed to follow it through was just another matter.

So, to all my Muslim brothers and sisters, a Happy New Year. Maal Hijrah, just in case somebody wanted to give me grieve like they did in Facebook earlier. Maybe in the coming year, I should plan to make sure my fellow Malaysians would try to differentiate what's Islam and what's Arab culture. The line seemed to be blurred lately ....

Who's Fault?

Julia came around to pick Imran and spent the afternoon at the apartment with her other children, Nana and Alya. We had lunch, then tea. It was havoc despite the heavy rain outside. The boys and girls were playing in the rooms while the adults dosed off to sleep in the nice cool breeze.

When it came for the afternoon tea, Anita asked me to heat the oven while she took the frozen pizza out for the kids. A mini disaster. I guessed I was too hot for the oven!

I had to head out to hospital a couple of times but luckily it was only a 15 minutes drive from the apartment. If it wasn't for the rain. I suspected that we would have been hitting the pool by now ....
