On to Fahrenheit

Right after my stop at Pavilion, I continued my walk towards Fahrenheit. They made some effort for Xmas decorations as well, and they weren't half bad.

Space appeared to be at a premium for them to compare to Pavilion, but they seemed to be putting in a better effort than say, Sungai Wang Plaza.

There were some elves walking around as well, but they appeared to be rushing somewhere. There must've been some show scheduled for later that afternoon.

Great job none the less ...

Pavilion Xmas 2013

I think Pavilion had upped their game this time again. After a couple of lame showings on the instore decorations department, this year's Xmas effort left me impressed.

Last weekend, I made my monthly walk around Bukit Bintang to settle bills, run errands and just a general walkabout. I parked my car at KLCC and walked across the bridge towards Pavilion. There was not much going on at Suria at the time, but it soon changed the moment I entered Pavilion.

There was a small fanfare feeling to the main foyer. There was the customary Santa sled and Xmas tree. There was also a merry-go-rounds and a special stage. And it didn't stop there.

There was another tree by the main entrance from Bukit Bintang. The famous fountain also had some decorations put up in the surrounding area. It was a shame that there were too much construction going around the area, making the walk seemed less festive.

As for the mascot, one could be easily confuse it with Doraemon.

I continue my walk towards Bukit Bintang with a quick stop at Fahrenheit 88. There were decorations there as well. More on that later ...

Evening at The Curve

I brought the boys and Puan Anita out to IKANO the other night as I mentioned earlier. The plan was to buy Raya cards from our favorite shop there. After that was done, we noticed that The Curve had some decorations at the main foyer as well as stalls set up. And one of the stalls was of our neighbor, Nazleen Noor.

The boys were in their jimjams at Nazleen's stall

She got her collections on display and Anita spent some time there. Unfortunately she was away on a meeting at the time. The other stalls were pretty interesting as well, but the one that caught my attention was by a small company called Young Khalifah.

The night was still youngThe theme, Dansa Raya .... but what might the other spactacular highlights be?Not the real flame thoughStarry night! Before you say anything, this was not one of those cheesy little shops selling standard merchandise and garments for Moslem children. This went beyond that. They sold cute sejadah (prayer mat), telekong (prayer garments) and other nice stuff. We bought a couple of sejadah for the boys. Anita got herself a pair of telekong. Irfan wanted some soft toys, of a Moslem family. Really cute.

The stall by Young KhalifahOne of the puppets that Irfan bought. We had a set of six - the whole family. The theme of the display was "Dansa Raya". We didn't see any dancing that evening. Maybe the dancing would happen nearer to Eid itself later. Looking forward to what else they had in store though.

The Secret of Raya at Pavilion

We ventured out to Pavilion after Iftar this evening. The Raya decor was being installed and for that evening, they had a 60s themed event, with dancers doing the twist. Really couldn't figure out how that actually fit in with Ramadhan. The dancers managed to get a few of the Arabs to dance along with them. Hopefully those Arabs did not get the idea that the twist was a national Malaysian fair.

I was not very sure what the overall theme was but it centered around the Secret of Raya, whatever that was. There was a big poster at the background, similar to the one you see at the cinema. So, may be it was like a mini movie, set in the 60s. Since the music was blaring out loud, the boys was not keen to go to the main foyer, so,I was not able to find out a bit more about the event. It was also drizzling outside, so we did not venture towards the fountain area.

Doing the twistWe finally left Pavilion just after ten, with a long queue forming at the exit. Even at that hour, Bukit Bintang was still buzzing. I was rather peckish and had to stop at KFC on the way, waiting for a good 20 minutes for my order. Anita and the boys were in the car enjoying the Boboi Boy DVD we just bought.

Bangsar Village Decor

Just returned from Bangsar Village and I was pleasantly surprised at how much the place was transformed in within a week. Both the Raya stalls - amongst the most expensive in KL, so enter at your peril - and the Raya decor were up.

I was rather confused with the overall theme there though, as it was more of a mash-up of colours rather than a coherent one. Or maybe I was just analyzing too much. After entering a couple of the stalls, I came up with the conclusion in the first paragraph. Things there were just damn expensive! A pair of sarongs for RM1700! Righto! I'll give that a miss.

Trying to figure out if those were snoflakes I think it wasCloser look at the stallsThe current trend seemed to be square boxesThe usual stuffings - cookies

The gift idea this time around was also not as creative as in previous years. They were pretty simple, and I noticed that the trend now is to give a hamper containing biscuits and drinks, rather than dates. Hmmm! Usually the trendier place would be Bangsar Shopping Center down the road. Maybe I'll give it a visit in the next few days.
