EAT ME!

I wasn't being rude here, but that was just the name of the cafe at Telawi, Bangsar which we visited last Saturday evening. Anita had been talking about having churros for quite some time. It brought back memories of us strolling at Hyde Park 20 years ago when we bumped into a stall selling what was called "Brazillian Doughnut". It suspiciously looked like churros though, and Anita loved that.

She finally got her wish, all the four of us parked our van at Bangsar Village II and walked across - in the haze - towards the cafe. It was located right next to KGB (Killer Gourmet Burger) - and I believed that they share the same owner.

It was essentially a cute little cafe mainly serving desserts and chocolates. Nothing heavy on the menu, and churros was one of the main feature. We sat down and Anita ordered the churros with milk chocolate dip, I had a creme brule while Irfan had a lovely chocolate waffles. The drinks were also pretty fancy with me ordering iced tea infused with mango.

The churros came out first, and it was rather hard - not as soft as I remembered and certainly it was no doughnut. My creme brule was excellent although it could do better with less herbs. Irfan's waffles was too rich and he only managed a quarter of the portion.

Anita's hot chocolate and my iced teaIrfan's pick soda floatsIrfan desperately trying to go through his waffleDone with my creme bruleThe decorations was best described as pastel-theme. The seats were confortable and once you were inside, you would be insulated from the noise outside. The soothing background music also made a difference and there was wifi as well, but I just used my faster LTE instead.

On the whole, it was a nice little place to unwind and we would not mind going there again. The pricing I thought was rather steep but I understood that that was the going rate for the ambiance and quality food nowadays. We might order the churros again next time just to make sure that the less-than-expected delivery was just a one-off. But even without the churros, there were enough going for the cafe for us to come back. It had competition however, no less that Jasmyn's just a couple of doors down.

The Congregation

No! I'm not talking about the scale of bersih here. But my sister and her children joined us for the weekend as we have a family wedding to attend later tonight. And it had been havoc so far.

They arrived just in time for lunch, and after that came the time to hit the supermarket fro some proper grub. I lost count on the amount of ice-cream that they bought. Suffice to say that my fridge is now full. And we probably would leave them at the apartment with the maid when we go out tonight. Otherwise we couldn't stay for long.

After the trip to the supermarket, everybody sat in front of the TV. The flipped the channel and settled on "The Conjuring". Yes, a horror movie! I suspect that all of them would be up all night tonight!

So, looking forward to a fun night tonight. Plus ManYoo would be playing at 11! Must make sure that Anita is not watching it. We drew the last time she did when we should've won!

Back to Base

The break lasted a couple of days and I will be on call tomorrow. Followed by a full weekend, with weddings and visits. The journey home was a smooth one, setting off from PD after lunch at the PD Golf Club. Just over an hour between PD and our apartment.

That as one of the advantages of travelling midweek. If you leave right after lunch, you could easily avoid the rush hour traffic. The highway was empty all the way and the weather was nice all along.

The day did not stop there. It was followed by a movie. This time minus the kids.

I couldn't get back to bed too early since I was occupied by paperwork and photos which needed processing. The boys were still on school break, and they were not keen to get to bed early.

It would be a struggle tomorrow .....

One Final Dip

Disappointingly, we woke up this morning to the sound of heavy rain. The boys had planned to have an early breakfast followed by another dip in the pool before leaving for KL.

High tide with the soothing sound of crashing waves, plus that extra bit of cool from the heavy rain meant that the plan for early breakfast was shelved.

I went to breakfast first with Idlan as Anita had to wait up for Irfan who was still sound asleep. After breakfast was done, Irfan finally woke up, opened the window, taking his clothes off straight into the pool. The rain has ended.

Cue more splashing with me and Idlan included. Looks like the plan for the morning dip was back on! KL would have to wait!!!!!!!

Out of Town

The boys summer break was still in full swing. They went to JB with Anita last week. But I wasn't there with them. So, this week it was my turn to go - although of course Anita was there as well.

We went to PD. Although we contemplated staying at the apartment, the thought of having to go out to get food every now and then put that idea to bed. We stayed at a hotel instead.

We did some on line booking and took a room at Lexis Hibiscus, a new hotel in PD, but after checking in, I was not that impressed and soon we left for its sister hotel, the Grand Lexis.

Now, this was better and we didn't look back since. It was also nearer the town centre and the inroom pool was way bigger. An important prerequisite.

Two nights flew by. Half of that time were spent in the swimming pool - the pool at Hibiscus was warmer though. We also took some time for a Segway and bike ride. The boys also enjoyed the play room with arcade game, fussball table and air hockey. I wished that I had more time to snap photos, but I must say I had other activities while I was there. And I did get plenty of sleep.

Great midweek escape all around. Definitely would di this again.
