Simmering Down

Idlan's fever abated overnight and he was able to get a peaceful sleep. It was horrible the evening before, him waking up almost every hour. Irfan was in school yesterday, but when I reached home yesterday, he was asleep on the couch. That nap lasted about 3 hours, clearly still recovering.

Anita also felt listless, as was I last night. I had a slight temperature when I went to bed, but felt better this morning. The sore throat was still around, but after some gargle and paracetamol, I left for Subang, a bit later than usual.

I was at ParkCity when I was drafting this entry, really not in the mood to do much else. No referrals or patient in clinic this morning, so, I just chilled out. I would probably leave early to get to the bank, and have an early lunch somewhere in Bangsar.

I called home to check on Idlan. He was already up having a shower. Slight temperature but he was a lot more active. Hopefully he things would settle down soon. At least it happened this week as I was due to fly to Kyoto next Wednesday for a conference .....

It's Idlan's Turn

I thought of taking the boys out to dinner last night. Went out fine but when we were having the food, Idlan started complaining of body ache. W didn't finish his dinner. And soon, we had to leave, worrying that he would become more sick.

As soon as he arrived home, he started shaking. Poor boy. He went to bed early, only to wake up in the middle of the night drenched in sweat and confabulation. Had to get him up to take some medicines.

He was still yet to recover this morning. Then I myself started having body ache and sore throat when I woke up. After soon my morning rounds, the aching never stopped. I still have a couple of procedures to do later. Maybe a quiet morning in clinic plus a nice lunch should perk me up a bit.

Better call Anita and find out how Idlan is doing.

Settling Down

Irfan skipped school today since Anita had to stay the whole morning with her Mum. The initial plan was for her to spend the night last night, but since Mum was feeling much better, she asked Anita to stay with the kids instead. Mum's appetite was much better, and she starting to nag again - which can only be good.

As for my brother-in-law, he was feeling more lethargic. His fever was still high and his platelet count was dropping. His room was on a different level to Mum, so he was not able to walk around there. Anita made sure both of them were settled before leaving to pick Idlan up. As for me, I would have to return tonight for a patient. I would be dropping by to see how things were as well. Maybe I had to drop something for them then.

More Monitoring

It seems that Mum would be staying in the hospital for a few more days and the fever was still high. In dengue, the fever usually persist for around five days. Today would be Day 4. The would need constant monitoring. She was still tired and refused breakfast. No appetite.

My brother-in-law just had his own blood test, and was also positive for dengue. Up next would be a cousin of Anita who was also staying at the house. He had been having body ache for the last couple of days. He would have some tests tomorrow. So far, the boys had been fine. I was OK as well.

Next up, we were arranging for the maid to accompany my Mum tonight. We would need a small deck chair. The next couple of days would be a challenge .....

It Ain't Over Yet

I thought that the trips to the hospital for Anita would be a bit less this weekend, but how wrong was I. Anita was OK, but her Mum was admitted Friday and today, it was suspected that she has dengue. The pattern on the blood results were certainly in keeping, and the confirmatory serology would be sent tomorrow.

She was still having fever today, and I suspect that this would still continue for another couple of days. Anita was with her lay night with me and the boys chilling out through the night - we went to bed after midnight. I picked her up from the ward this morning after my morning rounds and now, we were back sending the maid to accompany her tonight. Anita would have to stay back as the boys would be back to school tomorrow.

So, it would be another few days before things went back normal at my household .....
