Smells Like Xmas

It was still 40 days away from Xmas, but Malaysian loved their festivities and mall decorations. I had an unexpected free afternoon yesterday, and after the morning rounds, set out towards Bukit Bintang camera in hand.

Pavilion had this tradition of elaborate decorations, especially for Xmas. This year was a bit more toned down, but extravagant none the less. I wasn't clear about the theme yet. It wasn't very obvious. There was a huge carriage in then middle of the main foyer. For the kids, there was also a small train on rails which went around in circle. The children would love it. My boys mn right be a bit to on big for that.

I walked further towards Fahrenheit. The were celebrating Doraemon's 100 birthday. Nothing fancy there as yet.

Come December, most of the other malls would catch up and start erecting their displays. I would be taking my cameras doing the rounds of course ....

Fascinating Lights

I frequent Bangsar Village a lot. A lot! My bank was near there. My apartment not too far away. I had breakfast at least once a week there. Groceries etc.

But even though I have been there plenty of time, I have always been fascinated by the lighting there. I thought initially that it was just going to temporary fixture, but it looked like it was built up from a theme.

And it seemed to be evolving .....

A Mazy Megamall

I managed to give the decoration at Mid Valley Megamall a look last weekend during a quick lunch time visit. The theme was a maze - of sorts. A big Xmas tree in the middle, and to reach the gazebo right in the middle, punters had to walk through a small maze, made of fake plants.

As it was a Sunday, the place was packed. A pram could easily block the narrow walkway in the maze, so, it was not exactly a pleasant walkabout if you ask me .....

Nice Pyramid. Sunway Pyramid.

During one of my lunch break recently, I had the chance to have a quick walk around Sunway Pyramid. Again, despite this still being November, the Xmas decorations at the mall was already in full swing. One of the corner foyer - Sunway Pyramid has four such foyers, located at the edges of the square-shaped mall - was packed to the brim with decorations.

It was a mini grotto, complete with a stage for Santa of course and snowman, with fake snow of course. Very nice. It looked like the Xmas decorations this time around would be grander than both Chinese New Year and Hari Raya. Signs of the economy recovering maybe.

The list of activities were not yet out, but I could imagine there would be carol-singing and Santa making appearances. As we would be spending a week in December at Sunway during the school break, we may be able to explore this a bit more, or even venture towards iCity in Shah Alam. Apparently they have an outdoor snow show thee next month. Looking forward to that.

More Decorations at Pavilion

I was so impressed with the Christmas decorations at Pavilion that on Friday evening, I returned there with Puan Anita. This time around, it was in the evening. We went there for dinner and while Anita was getting her shopping done, I ventured out into the fountain area by the main entrance.

The main entrance were full of this sticky stuff. Not real of course.Careful not to trip on them. The full vistaWhile sitting having a mocha at Dome. The coffee was rubbish however.Wondered if they had weight restrictions.Since it was still November, there were not much activities yet, but the place were packed. The carousel was opened to the public and the lights there were spectacular. It however paled to last year's. I meant, who could beat the snow there had by the entrance.

Now, outside by the main entrance. The lights seemed to fall down from the sky.Looking towards Bukit Bintang. Traffic was still full at this hour.

This time around, it was more about lights and Xmas tree and ornaments. I managed to take some video of the place and would be editing them in my spare time. I would upload them after that.
