Decor at Pavilion

I had a couple of hours to venture around Pavilion yesterday as I needed to do some payment at the bank. Anita and the boys did some shopping while they were there.

Suffice to say, with Aidilfitri less than a couple of weeks away, the decor was already up.

The main lobby was transformedCloser look at the houseWouldn't mind the songkok if I couldn't get the carTime to head out towards Bukit BintangWhat was in store? A life-size replica of a Malay kampung house, which one could enter and explore. I didn't have the time to do so though as the boys were hungry when we got there - obviously they weren't fasting.

There was also a Mini car promotion, and in the spirit of Aidilfitri, it was wearing a songkok. And a huge one at that.

On the way to the bank, I passed by Fahrenheit. Some scenes worth taking photographs for there, but unfortunately I only had the HTC One on me. Quick snaps and then in was off again.

It was gorgeous and he had a couple of work up there. My wife was impressed to say the least.

Might be returning there armed with a proper camera. When it came to details, sometime mobile phones may not cut it.

BSC Raya Bazaar

This was definitely bot for the faint-hearted. Since we were spending time at the apartment, we decided to go for some groceries. And while we were there at Bangsar Shopping Center, the main foyer at the new wing was filled up with a bazaar. But the prices of the stuff on display was just ..... unbelievable. I couldn't offord any of them. They were just rediculously expensive.

There were clothes, hampers and carpets mainly. And the clothes were really nice especially the ones for children. The pattern this year happened to be checkered, almost the same as what the boys like to wear. Cute stuff. The lace and samping for adults was a different story. A songket samping for RM3000? You got to be joking. No wonder some resorted to slicing people's thumbs off as means of getting cash!

But the bazaar itself really lived up to the billing. They even had live musician playing there when we visited. The ambiance was great although it could be crowded as the stalks were bunched closely together and the corridor in between were quite narrow.

If you were looking to impress others with hampers and gifts, for clients of loved ones, this was definitely one of the place to consider. But prepare to pay through your noses!

After lingering around for a good 20 minutes, we finally left the place without buying anything. Groceries next.

The Curve in Ramadan

After the jam I endured coming back from Subang, I had to fulfil my promise to the boys to take them out. Anita wanted to go to The Curve, and the children wanted to go to Marche there. So, the decision was easy. Off we went.

For the past few years, this was the main place we went to shop for Raya clothes. A few of the shops there we were very familiar with. And of course, we had to go there for the Raya cards as well. We had tongue that a miss this time around as the boys were hungry. So the shopping had to wait.

The decor there this year was based on the 60s theme around old KL. Specifically Chow Kit and Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman. The had shops basically there. A mini bazaar, selling some really expensive stuff that I didn't even bother browsing.

The clothes there mainly came from local boutique and they didn't come cheap. There were also accessories, samping, songkok and all the rest. But the main items seemed to be baju kurung. Plenty of them, for both children and adults. Don't bother asking about the prices. I could cry.

We skipped that and bought some clothes at Metrojaya instead. Got what we went there for.

Unfortunately, The Curve were shut down at ten even during Ramadan. Which was a shame since they could do with opening it until midnight during weekends as I was sure there would be plenty of people who would venture out after Tarawikh at least for food.

That would be an idea.

Here are the entries from the Raya decor from 2009, 2010 and 2011.

First Day

I was meant to be on leave, but I ended spending time running around from Subang, Bangsar, Wangsa Maju, KLCC and of course Melawati for pasar Ramadan. Tiring day.

Groceries and shopping done before picking up cakes and cookies late in the afternoon. Of course it won't be complete without a quick dash to pasar Ramadan.

It looked like the two malls that I went to this afternoon had been gearing up to Raya with their decorations. Syria KLCC main foyer was still being transformed, so we were still waiting to find out what was in store.

At Alpha AngleMainly clothes hereThe decor at KLCC still being erectedThe decorations at Alpha Angle looked already been set up and the bazaar there was already up and running. But I was yet to get into the mood for clothes shopping. I just left this to Puan Anita. She's the chief when it came to shopping.

Waiting for iftar now, and I would be blogging more after the meal.

CNY Decor Up at Pavilion

Just returned from dinner. It was Friday, so it was traditional for us to go out for the evening. It was Pavilion this week. It wasn't crowded but as I wasn't doing the driving, it was a pleasant drive there. And the Chinese New Year decorations were just being installed.

Everything was red. It wasn't quite ready yet, but from the frantic work they were doing, they were eager to get it ready form the weekend. So, I'd probably return at some point when the decorations were ready to see what would be in offer. An excuse to get the camera out really.

Dinner was at Sushi Tei. The boys loved it. The food was generally OK, and the price reasonable. It was raining outside, so we didn't venture out of the mall this time around.
