Security

The story about a Tan Sri shooting down a parang-weilding robber at a medical clinic in town last night got me thinking how vulnerable the Casualty were in case robbers came into the lobby and asked for money from the till. Will the security staffs be able to this kind of situation? How about the patients who were waiting to be treated? And their relatives? Will the security staffs be able to protect the medical staffs and patients should somebody turned up with a shotgun.

Subang Jaya is not exactly the safest neighborhood as far as security was concerned. And I dread the day when someone do come in and rob our hospital at night. We really need to get the security beefed up. I pray that we wouldn't be a target.

On Call Again

Another Friday and another call. It had been OK so far, but the fact that I was on call just brought my mood down a touch. The weather outside was gloomy, but at least it wasn't hazy. Or was it not?

Just finished my rounds and was feeling peckish. The only relief I could reasonably go to at this hour would be to the mamak stall down the road. Could do with an early dinner, and this evening I was planning to spend the time at the Doctor's lounge watching tennis. It would be the Men's semifinals tonight and I was expecting some epic matches.

Hopefully the call would be gentle and I would be able to watch some bot of the match.

Haze is Back?

I woke up this morning with the dread that the haze might be bad. A quick status check on Facebook read complains from friends and relatives that the air quality deteriorated somewhat as far down as Singapore.

Everybody were bracing for the second wave. The weather was certainly gloomy first thing in the morning when I drove to work. But by the time I head out to my clinic at Desa ParkCity, the sun was out, but yes, the sky wasn't as clear as it was the last couple of days. The stench was not out in the air as it was two weeks ago, which was good.

With Ramadan coming next week, we would be hoping for cool weather, but minus the haze of course.

Nine Hours

I couldn't recall the last time I had a refreshing 9 hour sleep. Maybe on the flight to Amsterdam last week, but that wasn't the same. The sleep last night must be the best that I felt for a long while. Although I still had to answer a couple of calls from hospital, which I hoped I didn't answer rudely.

Anyhow, I woke up to a dull weather this morning, starving and in search of breakfast. Would be heading for a ward round first and would be going to find punch before heading back to Gombak to wait for the Anita's return. Hopefully the weather improves because I fact a bit of a photowalk. Maybe with just the mobile.

Alone at the Apartment

I was on call on Friday, and on Saturday, one of my cousin in Kepala Batas was getting married. Since the date of the wedding was confirmed late and I couldn't make the necessary changes to my schedule, I couldn't make the trip up north. But Anita and the boys would be going and would be spending the Friday night there.

But unfortunately again, the MPV overheated again - like it did a couple of months back when Anita and the boys were planning a trip to Kuala Kangsar. They were stuck initially in Tapah and waited for the car to cool down. Once the temperature returned to normal, she had a choice to make. Either spent the night in Ipoh - my boys wanted to spent the night in a hotel - or return to KL. In Ipoh, at least she could visit her cousin as my mother-in-law was tagging along as well.

After some discussion, we decided that she would be better off continuing on slowly. The temperature stayed down and they reached Ipoh without any more drama. The driver would then find a garage the next morning to have the MPV looked at, before returning home.

After spending the night there, they decided to stay on until Sunday and just relax. Which was fine by me.

So, I was alone tonight at the apartment and would need to catch some sleep. I haven't yet fully recovered from the return trip to Lugano. I would also take the time to finish editing the tons of pictures I took during the trip and upload them onto my server. That should take me all weekend.

I just came off the phone with Anita and Idlan said that he missed me. I was sure that he was up to something there.....
