BMW Shorties

I had the pleasure of attending the BMW Shorties Screening earlier today at the Actor's Studio up Lot 10. It was a shame that I couldn't hang on till the end. I only managed five short films and from what I saw they were pretty good. Some of them were downright cute, while others were corny. Can't fault the technical side though as it was clear that all of them got talent.

There were a question and answer session to all the ten contestants at the end but I had to leave as I had promised my boys to take them to the park. It wasn't often that I got a free Sunday afternoon anyhow. I will be on call next Sunday, so that would be a goner.

Introduction by the founder, Michael Chen

The screening was organised by the WAMM - We Are Malaysian Made - an organization which I only learned about today. Maybe I would stay a bit longer next time after learning of the quality on offer.

Raju for Breakfast

As I finished my rounds early, I decided to have a late breakfast slash early lunch. A convenient 10 minutes drive down the road and I was at Raju's. And even at 11 am, the place was already packed and the Bandaraya people were already in to make sure the punters did not park by the roadside.

Service was excellent this morning, even though I had to wait for a free table. The breezy weather was just relaxing on this Sunday morning. Unfortunately, I couldn't hang around for too long as the crowd had already started building up.

The New Camera

Guilty. I couldn't resist it. A camera with better lens and sensor than the lovely X100. I would go insane to say no. So, last Friday, after work, I went out to ask around and at Boeing in Sungai Wang, I got the best offer.

I bought the body with the 35mm f1.4, a delicious lens and had been trying it out ever since. I also got the dedicated case for it, but the annoying thing about that case was the battery and the memory card, bring located at the base of the body, necessitate me to remove the casing every time I needed to charge or download photos. A bit of a pain.

Another gripe was, I have yet to update to OSX Lion on the iMac since the software for my wiggy Internet dock is not compatible with it. The latest version of Aperture requires upgrade to OSX Lion, and that version could process the x-Pro1's RAW files. Since I was not able to upgrade, I was stuck with the jpeg. But when the jpeg appeared this good, I couldn't really complaint. Yet.

With Idlan having his exams next week, and Puan Anita occupied, I would have time to have a walk about town. The camera sounded perfect for street photography, although like the X100, the focusing can be rather quirky.

Outing Later

The morning clinic was quieter than expected. So I spent most of the morning at the Doctor's mess watching tennis. Federer was close to get an upset, but managed to turn things around. Amazing.

Idlan has assessment next week. So, it meant that we won't be having any outing this weekend. I would be on call next weekend, so not much chance then as well. So, I will be going out for a photo walk later around Pavilion. With my brand new camera ......

Chill Time

Finally, after a couple of weeks swimming with work, I was able to go home early. Well, before 5 pm. And it felt good after seeing my last patient just now. Tonight, Anita and Idlan would be out celebrating one of Idlan's classmate's birthday in Bangsar. Irfan was supposed to follow but he woke up this morning with a stye on his right eye. Not painful but we were worried that it may be contagious.

I might just be at home babysitting him then. I really could do with an evening at home, just chilling.
