Call Weekend

On call and it had been steady today. Things were moving rather slowly, but I didn't really complain. A quick read on Facebook and Twitter showed people complaining about the traffic in town. It had been worse than usual.

Plus the problem with water shortage. Not a fine time to be spending the weekend at home. One of those which you wouldn't mind being on call actually.

The sun was still beating bright outside and it was going to be another hot day with no sign of rain .... Happy Weekend all!

Back to the Swings of Things

Things were slowly returning back to normal after the CNY breaks. Most of the familiar faces were back, the wards were reopened and the clinics filling up again.

The same cannot be said about the Emergency Room. It had been madness during the holidays. I was still recovering from my call on the first day of CNY. It was that bad.

This coming weekend would also be a big one for Irfan especially. He would be turning 8 on Sunday. And we have a party lined up for him, and starting from this evening, we would be having a meeting with his school friends to watch the new Lego movie at the cinema. Something he had been looking forward to since Anita planned it earlier this week.

As for me, I should be winding down pretty early since I only had a handful of in patients left to be seen. Then, a quick visit to ParkCity before heading back to the apartment. Hopefully things would quieten down and I could enjoy the movie with the boys.

Leaving Early

Long ward round. And a long clinic this morning. It was well after 3 pm when I had time for lunch. And enjoyed the lunch I did.

Come to think of it, I might as well get on with the afternoon rounds after lunch and call it the day early.

Now, that's a good idea...‎

Prelude to a Long Weekend

The call I received this morning just when I was about to hit the shower pushed the number of admissions to above 20. Even though it was Chinese New Year, the admissions kept all piling in. I went home after midnight last night only to be called in again with an ICU admission which took me into the early hours.

I was thankful that I at least got three hours of uninterrupted sleep until ingot the morning call.

I was still in the middle of my morning rounds when I had to stop. I need a quick drink. I just couldn't continue on. A 15 minutes break should not hurt anyone.

I imagine that the rounds would take me to lunch. Then, I would have some time to wind down this afternoon before the undoubtedly flurry of calls from the ward. I wouldn't be surprised if I had to get in again later tonight.

I'd better enjoy the break as much as I can then. Cheers!‎

Such Nice Sunshine

Wednesday morning meant that I would be doing a round at Subang before driving across to Park City after the traffic subside. I was expecting the traffic to be light this morning but it wasn't to be. Maybe the bulk of the city dwellers would only be leaving for their hometown tomorrow rather than today.

Anyhow, I was delighted with the great weather we had after the last few days of gloom and haze. I wished that I could just cancel the clinic, pick up my camera - with the brand new lens - and go out in town.

So, after the Park City clinic, I stopped by at the apartment for lunch with Anita and the boys before the afternoon clinic. Finished things early, after seeing a few referrals. The plan was to take the boys out to the park.

Unfortunately the gloom had returned by then. Heavy clouds threatening to rain. And the boys had already settled down for a spot of Minecraft. An afternoon in then...
