Pulau Langkawi?

The first season of Star Trek Discovery ended a couple of weeks back and Anita finally managed to catch up with all the episodes. I must say that the series was more gloomy that I would've hoped but it ended up on a happy note. But there would be plenty of twists to come I was sure.

We also finally learned where Captain Georgio wasn't from Ipoh but Pulau Langkawi. I was sure that would be an important information for future quizzes.

On the whole I felt that the second season should be more upbeat. I could only take solemn tone a certain amount. It would be no fun it it was too serious like it was with Battlestar Galactica. The franchise had however carried enough for me to root for the second season ...

Lunch at Common Grind

It was the day after Valentines, Chinese New Year Eve. With everything happening at home, we didn't make any special dinner plans. As I had some time during lunch, I decided to go out for quick meal with Anita.

Anita wanted to go to The Row at Jalan Doraisamy and check on the cafés there. Not many were open during lunch. We settled for Common Grill located the end that street.

No grinding seen ...If you prefer sitting outsideWe prefer the air-conditioningA serene surrounding in the middle of the city, with greens all around. They served sandwiches and pasta as warm selections. More pastries and coffee than anything else. But the ambiance was nice.

Both of us had some pasta and they were delicious. My mocha wasn't half bad. A nice place to chill actually but the problem would be parking. That area was not exactly blessed with plenty of space for the car. But there is a Monorel station nearby or you could park at Quill City Mall just across the road.

Checking out the menu ...We started with some iced lemon teaInvitingThe place was worth another look should I need a quiet place to meet up with friends.

CNY Outing

The morning ward round turned to be a long one in the New Year Day. By the time I was done, it was almost time for Friday Prayers. I decided to stay in Subang until after the prayers.

That famous cube in front of Lot 10There were still plenty of lights at the startHowdy!Plenty of activitiesBy the time I reached the apartment, it was already time to leave to meet Specky, an old classmate from Terendak. Anita and the boys had other ideas. They wanted to have a late lunch before heading out to the park.

Reaching the fountainThe top tier ...There is always time for selfies ...By the time it was done, I still had some errand to run. We decided to hop on the MRT from KL Sentral to get my stuff done and along the way had the chance to try my new camera setup.

Inside PavilionCute cat ...Packed ...Happy faces ...Plenty of tweaking yet needed doing.

Unplanned Party

The best parties were often the unplanned ones. The spontaneous ones. Well, Rabat as what happened when we wanted to celebrate Irfan turning 12. Initially there was no party. Then maybe it would be a quiet family dinner.

The weather was certainly inviting ...Uncle Razak getting the cakes readyWaiting for the visitorsThat expanded to his cousins and my Mum. Irfan then suggested we have a small get together with his old classmates from Sri Utama. Just the boys.

A slew of SMS and texts flew. The girls wanted to join. Or at least their parents. They wanted to come over as they haven't met Anita for a while since Irfan changed school.

Getting the tools readyHappy Birthday IrfanThe friends were here ...Before we knew it, it was a semi-proper party. With me being on call that day, everything were just ad hoc. But it turned out great. The friends had a great time and the apartment was turned upside down in the end.

The cakes were outThe found their spotA great day ...

Thaipusam Day Outing

The last of the installments I can assure you that - since I would be back at work tomorrow. I had some time to walk around town, still exploring what the GoPro could offer. As today was Thaipusam and I didn't have the stomach to follow my friends to Batu Caves, I decided to stay nearer to home.

Heading to Dataran Merdeka after lunchWhere's the water curtain? The River and the TowerWhere the rivers meet ...Following the route After a short trip to the ward, I parked my car at Suria KLCC before heading out for some biryani at Masjid India via the LRT. The weather was too nice to ignore and before it got too warm, I decided to venture out of mall and took some photos of the Twin Tower. Wide angle and blue skies was what needed for this photo op. I didn't have to be asked twice.

It certainly was sunny ...Sitting by the junctionWorking in the sun ...Into the shade ...Central Market ...Calling it the day ...Then came the LRT trip to Masjid India for lunch at Restoran Shahira, doubling back via River of Life where groups of tourists were lurking. Off through Central Market before taking the LRT back to Suria. Time for some coffee and later a quick stop at Kinokuniya before heading back home.
