Thaipusam Day Outing

The last of the installments I can assure you that - since I would be back at work tomorrow. I had some time to walk around town, still exploring what the GoPro could offer. As today was Thaipusam and I didn't have the stomach to follow my friends to Batu Caves, I decided to stay nearer to home.

Heading to Dataran Merdeka after lunchWhere's the water curtain? The River and the TowerWhere the rivers meet ...Following the route After a short trip to the ward, I parked my car at Suria KLCC before heading out for some biryani at Masjid India via the LRT. The weather was too nice to ignore and before it got too warm, I decided to venture out of mall and took some photos of the Twin Tower. Wide angle and blue skies was what needed for this photo op. I didn't have to be asked twice.

It certainly was sunny ...Sitting by the junctionWorking in the sun ...Into the shade ...Central Market ...Calling it the day ...Then came the LRT trip to Masjid India for lunch at Restoran Shahira, doubling back via River of Life where groups of tourists were lurking. Off through Central Market before taking the LRT back to Suria. Time for some coffee and later a quick stop at Kinokuniya before heading back home.

Lining Them Up

So, my crazy stretch of calls were finally done. Looking forward for a few days off during the Thaipusam period. Might be doing some photography during that period if I have a partner. Alternatively, Anita might have an idea or two about a day out.

For this weekend, I would be catching up on some TV and paperwork. Hoping to get some proper sleep as well somewhere.

Times Square Monkey

We went to Low Yat this afternoon to get Anita's iPhone screen fixed. It was OK, not as expensive as we thought and it was done within half an hour. Anita was happy, until iPhone 7 was out. The phone should be OK for the next few months at least.

After a quick lunch, we walked across to Berjaya Times Square for Anita to do a bit of shopping. Me on the other hand went to visit an exhibit at the Nikon Centre across from Low Yat.

At the main foyer, they had a huge monkey - since it would be the year of the Monkey next. But it came with a couple of antennae. To be honest, it started to look like an ant with its big eyes from certain angle.

Well, after the shopping was done I stopped over at Starbucks for a quick later before heading back to Low Yat where we parked out car. The road wasn't full but the parking lots were. I guess people do like to go out to shopping malls like me...

Cousins Were Back

My Mum had a bit of fever and we brought her for a check-up - dengue test negative - and stayed at the apartment over the weekend.

Julia came to visit and the moment her children arrived, my boys had been asking if they would stay overnight. It was a long weekend after all with Monday being a holiday for Thaipusam.

No wonder they slept late! Not sure what they were up to ..Looking through the old LEGO bitsSo, came the cue for a trip for junk-food shopping followed by early sushi dinner. Then the havoc started when we reached home again. More pizza and junk food ensued. Plus video games party of course.

They were all still asleep when I got up for my ward round this morning. Not sure what Julia's plan or what time she was coming over to pick the girls up. Mum also feeling much better and might be heading back to Bukit Antarabangsa today.

Happy Long Weekend

For some, this was going to be a three day weekend. Luckily for me, apart from the clinic tomorrow morning, I would not be on duty. I may have some free time to enjoy during the weekend. Monday would be Thaipusam, but this time around there was no plans to go out photographing. I guess the uncertainty about security and the threat of a riot in town made everybody jittery.

I expected the city would be empty with plenty of the dwellers driving home or on holidays. I was planning to spend the weekend in town and possibly play a game of football or two with Idlan.

KLCC was packedIt was jammed up all the wayWe were at KLCC earlier. And the traffic out and back was rather heavy. Plus KLCC was full as well. We did some shopping there, but we ended spending more time on the road than we thought.
