Lunch at Kuala Selangor

We expected that the traffic coming into KL would be more reasonable today this being Monday. But it was clear that some folks decided to return today, and the traffic today on the highway was heavier than usual. We decided to join the highway crowd with our littlw trip to Kuala Selangor for lunch. Luckily was left early and were only caught in a relatively heavy flow on the way home.

With the new highway - called LATAR now opened - it only took me 45 minutes to reach Kuala Selangor from Gombak. The highway still stopped at Ijok. No sign if the throughway to Lumut would be opened any time soon.

We went to the usual place at Pasir Penampang. But this time the food for some reason was rather bland. Maybe the main cook was away for Raya. But still we went for the usual crab and prawns. A whole lot of them.

After lunch, we went for a stroll along the village. There were many stalls selling seafood and other home made products. Another thing I noticed was the numbering on the door. All the shops there carried the number 168. An auspicious number I was sure.

On the way back, we took a detour around Bukit Malawati. It was the first time we dis that. We didn't realise that you could drive up the hill and do a nice relaxing round around the fort. Plenty of spots tonpark as well but we decided against that. Maybe next time. It was just too hot then.

Cuti Raya Day+4

Yes, a day late in entry after returning hone from my Mum's rather late. A nice dinner, plus badminton and football matches to boot - which United won but Chong Wei retired hurt by the way. The boys were running around all evening since their cousin were there. They had just returned from Melaka earlier in the day.

The day started off with just a relaxing morning at home. After lunch, Anita and I went over to Pavilion. From there, I went on to Low Yat. There, there was a plenty of promotion going on, the biggest one being the Xperia Ultra Z, a new phablet from Sony. A nice little HD unit with built in phone. More like the Samsung Galaxy Note. Packed with a great camera and a gorgeous screen, I really got quite interested. Since the crowd was smaller than I expect, I got plenty of hands on time on them. Responsive and fast. That was the impression I had.

Anita did some shopping as even Pavilion was rather empty. We then went to buy food for the dinner at Mum's - going all Arabic with dinner from Al Rawsha.

So, a full day it was mainly at my Mum's.

LCW

He came up short again. This time his aching muscles gave way but he fought through to the end, and was stretchered out of the court.

Poor Dato' Lee Chong Wei again showed what he was made off and did the nation proud. It was a game of high quality and clearly he was irked and distracted at the beginning of the second set. Maybe it was gamesmanship from the organiser again we would never know.

A very tactical game, more like a chess match. Both players were tired but at the end his age took its toll. I don't think LCW would ever win the World Championship he was craving for. He would be too old for the Olympics on three years time one would think.

We need a new generation of shuttlers to carry the weight on his shoulders. But as it stood, the search would be a long one .....

The New Season

A new era would begin tonight. David Moyes would lead Manchester United in the Charity Shield tonight. Not exactly a competitive match, and it was against Wigan. The stakes however would be much higher than what it looked on paper.

Moyes' reign didn't exactly start in glory. They lost a couple of games in their recent Far East tour. The honeymoon period did not last long. So, we shall see how things pan out tonight  .....

I will be watching the game at my Mum's place. In the new United home strip of course! GGMU!

Smurfing Good Time

The second instalment of the Smutf movie was released on Hari Raya. And with the visitors and all, we didn't get to watch it until the evening of second day of Raya. It was worth the wait as again. The movie was better than I expected.

All the main characters were back, although the story concentrated more on a few of the central characters as well as the development of the human family dynamics. Not much story of the Smurf village itself, mote on the human side this time. And mainly about Smurfette.

Rumour had it, the third instalment was already in the planning, to be released in 2015, but with a new character lending the voice of Papa Smurf. The current voice actor passed away in April. At the ripe old age of 87.

For the movie, we actually watched it at Signature Gardens, and there was hardly any crowd. Straight forward parking and a breeze of a drive into Gardens. Wish that it was like this on all our movie nights.

Definitely a recommended movie to watch for the family. Not such a surprise hit as Wreck-It Ralph, but fun none the less. And also not much of a laugh-a-minute as Despicable Me 2. My boys enjoyed it though. And that was the main thing.
