First Day

I was meant to be on leave, but I ended spending time running around from Subang, Bangsar, Wangsa Maju, KLCC and of course Melawati for pasar Ramadan. Tiring day.

Groceries and shopping done before picking up cakes and cookies late in the afternoon. Of course it won't be complete without a quick dash to pasar Ramadan.

It looked like the two malls that I went to this afternoon had been gearing up to Raya with their decorations. Syria KLCC main foyer was still being transformed, so we were still waiting to find out what was in store.

At Alpha AngleMainly clothes hereThe decor at KLCC still being erectedThe decorations at Alpha Angle looked already been set up and the bazaar there was already up and running. But I was yet to get into the mood for clothes shopping. I just left this to Puan Anita. She's the chief when it came to shopping.

Waiting for iftar now, and I would be blogging more after the meal.

Wangsa Walk Mall

Wangsa Walk Mall had prospered in the last couple of years from an uncertain beginning. It was opened right after another mall nearby - a Jusco - at Keramat, and initially, it was not very popular.
But, things had picked up since, to the detriment of Jusco. In fact, in the last couple of months, a fair few restaurant at the Jusco complex had closed, in keeping with the dwindling number of shoppers. Even Justin Beiber turned up at Wangsa Walk on his last trip to KL!
Shopping at Wangsa Walk during Ramadhan proved a pain. The car park was full, and the place was packed with stalls spilling onto the corridors. Rather messy if you had to babysit a couple of disinterested children.
The theme for the Raya decorations there was Upin & Ipin. They even made appearances today, but my boys were the least bit amused. The place was too packed for theirs and my liking. And the shopping was not really cheap there either.
Anita and I went there for shopping the other day, and ended up going to another mall because the kids were playing up. But we might return minus the boys, if we could get there early enough on the day, before the car park being filled .....
Wangsa Walk Mall is located in Wangsa Maju, near the exit from DUKE ....

Pavilion Again

Idlan has his Quran class today, so I returned to Gombak for Iftar today to join the rest of the family. As I was on call yesterday and due to lack of sleep, I ended up sleeping in front of the TV as soon as I reached home. I was woken up in time for Maghrib, and groggily I went upstairs for food. It was one of those meal where you couldn't remember exactly what you've eaten. I was better after the shower.

So, on the way back to the apartment, we decided to take a tour to Pavilion as I had to settle my credit card bills. Peckish since I hardly eaten during iftar, I gobbled down some sandwich, and then with the boys had a nightcap at Godiva. Nice rich, fattening chocolate!

More topping upAfter the meal, Anita did some shopping, and I was left with my camera to explore the Raya decorations around Pavilion. The theme was not very clear, but the had plenty of way - traditional Malay kite - hanging around. Plenty of stalls around the main foyer, selling cookies mainly, but nothing much else to talk about.

The main foyer seemed to have been taken over by wauA big one hanging from the ceiling

The area around Bukit Bintang and the fountain was still buzzing at that hour. There were plenty of foreigners, quite sizeable from the Middle East. And the traffic was still packed even close to 10 pm.

Enter the Dragon

Impressive. That's all I can say. It was huge and even Irfan said so. The dragon in the main foyer of Pavilion. A huge one, gliding down from the seventh to the floor level on the second floor. All hung using pieces of string.

The main foyer was filled with ornaments and shops of course. But there were plenty to see though the place could be rather crowded. A definite thumbs up for the Pavilion on their efforts.

CNY at Suria KLCC

When it comes to decorations, Suria KLCC should just sack their whoever is in charge and learn a thing or two from Pavilion. For a supposedly the main showpiece mall in the nation, they clearly need to put more effort in.

The main promenade should have been transformed with lantern or what not. But instead, it was left bare. And the effort they put in for the main foyer was akin to a task given to some high school kids, doing their mid term project. It was that disappointing and lame.

If I had my way, this area would have featured heavily as part of the CNY decorationsSuria KLCC has definitely lost their mojo as far as the festivity decorations were concerned. And before long, they would lose their prestige. But then again, one doubts if they really cared …….
