The Glasses Were In

Irfan was so excited am Friday afternoon that I had to leave early from work - I didn't have that many inpatient anyhow. The call came in during lunch that his glasses were ready for pick from the optician and he had been pestering Anita all afternoon.

So, got off with and I straight away took them out, still in school uniform.

He couldn't stop beaming all day after that....

Irfan Needs a Pair

Irfan had always been known to use his iPad too much. And I think it was taking its toll.

Last week, his spot in his class was moved to a row behind. Since then, he had been complaining that he couldn't see the whiteboard as clearly as he used to. He said that everything went blurry. I suspect that he needed to wear glasses.

So, we ventured to the optician tonight and sure enough, his sight was improved a lot after trying some lenses. Eye test done, and he chose a slick frame. The pair of glasses would be ready in a week.

Pulut for Irfan

Another milestone for Irfan. He has finished his muqaddam and is now reading the Quran. And as per tradition - something which we completely missed for Idlan - we have a doa and a small meal - usually in the form of pulut kuning.

Pulut kuning literally translate to "yellow glutinous rice", and it was just that. In full coronary stent-blocking glory!

Managed to escape early from work to get the transport organised. Puan Anita made sure of all the other stuffs were done. Pretty happy with the results. We had our usual caterer which my Mum used to order from to do the cooking. We also had pretzel from our friend added in.

Idlan finishing off the rest of the pretzelsPuan Anita was just doing the final packing before we take it across to the school.

The worry now was I thought we under-ordered. I might run the risk of not having any left for dinner ....

Irfan's New Mac

Since last year, the boys had been asking for their own computers. Irfan especially had been nagging me. He wanted an iMac, similar to mine. But mine was already four years-old. We had to get a brand-new one then.

Idlan would have to wait until later as we didn’t have space for two desktops. I must say that the new iMac were some slick machine. I would have to save for my Mac Pro as the shop only carry the first editions, and they were having some memory module issues with that batch. Not many shops in town had them in stock yet.

As usual, taking the computer out from the packaging was a ritual in itself. No other company paid this much attention to the packaging. Even though it looked complicated, one just had to follow the instructions, and before you knew it, walla ….

And I would have to do the dirty work ...Idlan would be using my old iMac, and they and their classmate had already planned a Minecraft party this weekend. Online of course. And Irfan already had Skype set up in his computer. Idlan had already had his for quite some time …

Looked like they would be staying in this weekend. The internet seemed to be the issue though as it was slow. I may have to bring the iMac to the apartment for updates at some stage.

Early Birthday Present

As mentioned, Irfan's birthday would be round the corner. He would be turning 8 next month.

After his exams last November, I asked him what he wanted for the holidays. He told me that he wanted to buy a game on his Xbox. He wanted to buy Minecraft.

Off I went searching high and low for it, but to no avail. I went everywhere, my usual dealer and a few more. No luck.

I had to put an order in in the end.

So, this afternoon, I received and SMS from the vendor at Plaza Damas. The game was finally in. Didn't waste much time. I went to collect the order and since this afternoon, both Idlan and Irfan had been in front on the TV in their room playing with not. Luckily, they had a two players mode and we had a cpuple.of controllers.

I really couldn't figure out what the craze was, but all their classmates were playing it. They would talking about it until the Chinese New Year I was sure.
