A Long Stretch

8 calls over 40 days did not sound too bad. I was sure I had done worst stretch before. But in private practice, it was different. It was more hands on. Coupled with the fact that the stretch went through my boys Xmas break was really a downer. We ended up staying at home much of the time.

Add to that the renovation which was going on, certainly the weeks could have gone better. And Idlan would be starting his classes again tomorrow, after only 3 weeks break.

It was my day post-call, and my next one would be another 3 weeks away. Time to stretch my back a bit before another series of call around the Chinese New Year period. I also booked 5 days off work in a couple of weeks time. I was thinking of a weekend away maybe with the family. It had been a while since we went back to Penang. I wonder where Anita fancied going ....

Waiting for Fireworks

New Year struck right during the halftime of United playing Middlesborough, which made things rather complicated. As soon as the halftime whistle went, Anita and I went out to our balcony in anticipation of the fireworks.

Unfortunately there were more building erected since last year around the Mid Valley area - the Eco City Park - which blocked our direct view. But the rapturous sound of the firework was heard everywhere. The biggest display came from the direction of KLCC. But noticeably, there were lesser celebration this time around. The fireworks at KLCC also only lasted a mere 10 minutes. I could remember it being much longer before. I guess everybody were being sensible with the economy at the moment ...

The display at Mid Valley was less spectacular although it lasted longer. The sound was more deafening as it was only half a kilometer away from our apartment. After all was done, it was back to the football .... and a cracking game of football it was ....

On Call New Year

It's second January and I was already on call while the rest were enjoying the Monday off. Some of the wards were still closed and the Casualty looked busy all morning. And I thought things would get busier as the day went on.

Weather looked dull outside and I was contemplating whether to head home now or catch a quick lunch. Maybe lunch is better as I might be busy later.

Happy New Year all.

New Year Lunch

The New Year started with a great win for United last night. Although it was only Middlesborough, the manner in which we came from behind to clinch the match in the final 5 minutes was reminiscent of the Ferguson era. And it was fitting as the great Sir was in the stands celebrating his 75th birthday.

The ward round came next after which I drove straight into town to sort my monthly credit card payment. I was surprised to see the new addition to Pavilion had already been opened. Now, you could walk straight from the new extension called "Connection" via an underground tunnel to Fahrenheit across the road. Great plan. If only another extension could be made straight to the new MRT line. That would really take the cake!

Waiting for my orderQuite and calmOn my way back to my car, I stopped for lunch at one of the Arab cafe there, watching people passing by in the great weather. Not a bad spot. Before I leave, I took the chance to explore the new extension, which I would blog about soon. Suffice to say, I did more exploration than I planned. Since I had already booked a trip for the haircut with the boys later, I couldn't hang around for too long.

I was lucky that I came to Pavilion early as the carpark was really packed at the time I was leaving with a long queue forming outside. I guessed everybody was up for some shopping ....
