I managed to leave the hospital early this afternoon. And it was just as well. Anita left Gombak later than usual and was caught in a bad jam. Combination of people rushing home in time for berbuka plus the rain made for the huge build up.
To make matters worse, Anita got a call from school when Idlan was at his extra class. He was feeling feverish and started being dizzy. His friends to help him by getting him some drinks and bringing him some biscuits. In the end he asked for the teacher to call Anita.
That was before the rain. By the time Anita was approaching Bangsar, he was feeling sicker and finally vomited. He felt better after that but it was another 30 minutes before he reached home.
The traffic just got worse after that and I was lucky that I wasn't called back to the hospital before berbuka. The traffic only improved at around 8 pm, when the rain finally stopped.
The combination of rain and Friday afternoons never gelled well. It almost always spelled a long traffic jam. So, that happened again today. Luckily I escaped early from the hospital and was able able to "enjoy" the view from the comfort of my apartment balcony.
It was certainly a long one, snaking from the top of Pantai Hill all the way down to the Lembah Pantai intersection. I was not in a great rush to get anyway, so I just stayed put. And the weather still looked menacingly gloomy from where I stood ....
For some, this was going to be a three day weekend. Luckily for me, apart from the clinic tomorrow morning, I would not be on duty. I may have some free time to enjoy during the weekend. Monday would be Thaipusam, but this time around there was no plans to go out photographing. I guess the uncertainty about security and the threat of a riot in town made everybody jittery.
I expected the city would be empty with plenty of the dwellers driving home or on holidays. I was planning to spend the weekend in town and possibly play a game of football or two with Idlan.
We were at KLCC earlier. And the traffic out and back was rather heavy. Plus KLCC was full as well. We did some shopping there, but we ended spending more time on the road than we thought.
Such nice weather to start the day off. But I wouldn't be holding my breath since the past few days ended with flash flood around town and Shah Alam. Luckily for us, we had a meeting yesterday until late. And I have another long afternoon today, so should the rain come, I would not be complaining.
While doing my rounds this morning, Anita called to say that she had to dash to the MyEG Office in 1Utama after our maid's permit was sent to the Gombak House when nobody was in. Since they couldn't get it to us, we had to pick them up from their office, and only the employer - myself - could pick the permit up.
It was a bit of a headache since I was at work, and since I might have a free hour, I decided to drive there to meet up with Anita. Being held up by a case, Anita reached there first and for some reason, she was allowed to pick the documents up. I was already halfway there then.
So, a detour for early lunch ensued ..... more about that later .....
