Admitting Defeat

My cough turned green this morning and the fever returned. Had to get some proper antibiotics, and close the clinic for tomorrow. I waited until after the morning rush was over before setting off for my ward round. And even then, I was coughing away.

Saw our family Doctor, who started me on antibiotics. Returned for the afternoon clinic and sorted out my paper works. Decided just to come in for wars rounds. Clinic ha been cancelled. I wouldn't be driving in early. And would be taking some time off in the afternoon.

So, hopefully this antibiotics would work wonders. I have to bounce back before my on call on Thursday.

Look at the Sun!

The weather outside had been stunning this morning, and I'm stuck in clinic at the moment. But fret not, as I have just seen the last patient. I might be heading out for lunch with the weather this nice. Followed by a couple of hours at the apartment, since I have no clinic in the afternoon, plus paper works and discharges had already been sorted. I still needed to do the afternoon rounds still.

Puan Anita had just finalised the booking for this weekend. We would be spending Saturday at A Famosa in Melaka, en route to a cousin's engagement in Muar in Sunday. It had been a while since we had a road trip - the last one being to Singapore. This time around, my parents and Julia's children would be coming along. Julia would be joining us in the Sunday in Muar.

Looking forward to that ....

What Traffic?

I thought it was only me complaining about how bad the traffic was this morning. It turned out that the whole of KL did the same. It had been raining since 3 am and some pa of KL were flooded. The flood also affected some of the main roads, causing bad congestion.

I was tired last night, and went to bed rather early - earlier than I planned as United would be kicking off at 11. By 10, I could hardly keep my eyes opened. I gave up soon after and woke up around 5 in the morning. and it was raining heavily then. As KL tended to jam up in the rain, I left early. I got into the car at around 6.45, and got stuck as soon as I entered DUKE. I finally reached the hospital at around 7.45. Imagine if I were to set off a bit later .....

Even Puan Anita was late getting the boys to school in the rain. Luckily, the rain stopped by 10, and as I was enjoying my early lunch today in Bangsar, it was already nice and sunny. And it stayed sunny until the afternoon.

I finished the clinic and ward round early and set off home before 5, and I was too tired to attend the talk in town.

Wesak On Call

Another Public Holiday - Wesak Day this time - and looking at the schedule for the rest of the year, it would likely be the last time I would be on call on a public holiday this year. But truth be told, I don't mind being on call on public holidays. The town would be either empty when the city dwellers left for their breaks, or jam-packed with shoppers - a recent not to venture into town. I would rather work on the holiday, and take a work day off, where I can enjoy a nice afternoon without being worried about the roads being packed. At least, that was my logic.

So far, the admission had been slow, but anything can happen later on the day. I just getting myself sorted out for the evening round, and of course dinner. It had been a hot barmy day, and the sunset was gorgeous.

There was also the small matter of FA Cup Final tonight. So, with tomorrow being Sunday, I can just chill out at the apartment in between admissions. So, time for a shower ....

Last Six Months

Yes. It has been six months since I was offered to join Sime Darby, and plenty of things had happened. I also filled my tax return today, and suffice to say, I'm broke!

Things had certainly picked up in the last three months, and even my Mum complained that I hardly came around as frequently. The new apartment also came in handy, as I didn't have to travel all the way to Gombak every time I was called to the hospital.

Alhamdulillah, six months certainly flew by in double quick time, and only recently that I started to understand the philosophy of private practice. Managing expectations seemed to be as important as having good clinical acumen. But, as I said all along, I must not complaint ....
