Pandamonium

The 1600 Panda project was doing its round across Malaysia and for the final two weeks, them cute pandas would be stationed in Publika. It was a WWF project to raise awareness on the decline of the species and the 1600 pandas represent the 1600 pandas still left in the wild. Or at least when I was told.

I took the boys to visit today, and it was havoc. Publika was chock full of people. Parking was a nightmare and to make matters worse, we arrived during lunch hour and could not get any seat to eat. It was a struggle although we finally got one. Ben'd even had a 45 minutes waiting time. We went elsewhere instead.

The queue to get in to touch the pandasAfter we were fed, it was time to get into some panda action. The queue to enter the cordoned area to have a close-up of photos was just too ridiculously long. So, only a few selfies and snaps were done before we muscle our way out.

Best to come either late morning or maybe later on in the afternoon. Sunday lunchtime was definitely a bad idea in anyone's book.

The pandas were cute though. Smaller than I thought. Definitely worth getting the snaps ..... Shame that Publika would their final local stop. Not sure when they would return ...

Sunday Walk

I was on call on Saturday and ended up finishing the post-take rounds at noon on Sunday. Missed a conference I was meant to attend that morning despite rushing to get things done. Got to the apartment just after noon, picked up the boys and Puan Anita and headed back to Gombak. Left the boys there with the maid, and Anita and I went out for a lunch date. We overate!

The actual programmeStill there were a number of visitors, and there was a wedding going on at the nearby Saloma BistroMight as well make use of the fair weather

With our tummy full, Anita decided to go for a walk. The sun was not to bright - in fact it was threatening to rain later in the afternoon. I read on the web that there was a festival at Matic, around 15 minutes walk from Suria KLCC where we had lunch. Off we went.

The place was deserted! Apparently the had a regional arts festival which opened at MATIC, but the actual weekend events were scattered at various venue around town. Sigh!

Trudging back to KLCCAlmost there ....That hit the spot! Big time!

We mingled around for a bit before strutting back to Suria. Time for a cold drink by the time we reached back …. Best to check out the event thoroughly before going. But then again some of the information was not forthcoming.

Sunny Sunday

We were cleaning the apartment in preparation to return to Gombak this morning. The boys had been doing their reading for their exams in a couple of weeks, and now with their console which would be staying at the apartment.

Last chance for them to play until after the exams. The sunny weather outside made going out for a stroll a nice idea.

The flowers Idlan got for Anita yesterdayRoti canai for breakfast

Instead, I forced myself to stay in, ending up by taking a nap in front of the TV. I needed that after a busy week. It would be morning clinic at Park City tomorrow, so a rest might just be a good idea.

By the time the cleaning was done, the weather had changed. Looked like there would be thunderstorm looming. Would wait until that passed by before setting off.

Big football match at midnight tonight. Not sure if I could muster it with a long day coming tomorrow ...

Sunday Afternoon

We arrived back to Gombak to be greeted with the news that the water supply had been cut. Not much notice were given out as the cut was due to some contamination issue at the treatment plant. Some diesel seeped through rendering the water unsafe for use. What a bummer!

We contemplated repacking and head back to apartment but that would be too much of a hassle.

After sorting out the children's homework and settled them down, Anita and I went out. Bukit Bintang today as Anita wanted to shop for some dress there. That gave me the chance to venture into Low Yat. The mission that afternoon was to look for a Bluetooth earset for my phone.

Tough luck. Not many good models available. Most of them were made by Jabra and I have already got an old unit I could still use. Nothing much on show that day. Even iPhone 6 ran out of stock .... a slow weekend for them I guessed.

We parked the car at Pavilion and after Anita was done with her shopping, we were caught in heavy rain to get back to the car. We ended up stopping for some coffee at Lot 10 instead.

After half an hour or so, we decided to walk through the rain, but on second thought, bought an umbrella from one of the street peddler there - for RM10! But it did its job. We got to the car and started driving home before getting drench. The rain that afternoon was torrential, with flash flooding in a few places in KL. We got home just in time ....

Sunday Afternoon

After a hectic week, Sunday could not come much sooner, and surprisingly, I had some time to enjoy for myself. I had been a chauffeur for Anita earlier in the day, driving her for her college meet-up in Cheras. Had lunch there after doing my ward round, and by 3pm, things were already sorted for the day.

So, Anita and I went to Bukit Bintang, and more specifically Pavilion.

There were a couple of arts event happening in KL last weekend. One was at KLPAC, The Inaugural Sime Darby Arts Festival. I wanted to go there but the combination of bad weather and bad timing just made that trip difficult. So, I went to the alternative - KakiSeni Arts Festival held at Pavilion. The Kakiseni event ran until Malaysia Day, so I could've catch up with that later in the week. Shame that the KLPAC event only lasted the weekend. That actually looked much more interesting to be quite honest.

But, able to go to one was better than nothing. I couldn't hang around for too long though as my in-laws would be out for dinner and somebody needed to stay home with the boys. I preferred an early night as well since United was playing later that night and I would be on call the next day.

So, I managed to catch a couple of performance. The problem was space at Pavilion was a premium. Getting one spot to another could be a pain since Pavilion was essentially a shopping mall. The outside terraces got crowded very quickly once an event start.

Hopefully there would be similar events organised for next year. And hopefully it was on separate weekends ....
