FEDEX Won!

This was one for the record books. Six months back, if somebody were to tell me that Federer and Nadal were to meet again in the final of a Grand Slam, I would tell Tham that they were crazy.

Not only I was wrong. Such final happened and it happened at the next tournament that both of them were fit. And the battle was epic.

We were attending a kenduri at Kota Damansara that evening and once the event was done, I was able to catch the final set on my next stop. It was a hard-fought match and in the end, Federer managed to keep his cool and clinched his 18th Grand Slam title. He looked on great shape and who knew, maybe the 20th may not be a far-fetched idea ...

Late as Usual

Saturday afternoons were always a bad time for me. My clinic tended to finish late and there were always patients which needed seeing after lunch, before I leave the hospital for the day. By the time I was done, it was usually after 3 pm. I tended to either have lunch at the hospital or take Anita out for a late lunch.

Saturday afternoon were also popular times for weddings. It usually ran until 4 pm, and it was almost customary that we showed up the last half an hour. With that, sometimes we had no food left. That created a dilemma for me. I usually had to content with what I had for breakfast until we leave the kenduri if that was the case.

The happy coupleAs a rule, I seldom confirm that I would be coming when the wedding was on Saturday afternoon. It was just not worth the hassle. I would only go if the hosts were aware that I would be arriving late.

Last Saturday was one of those occasion. It was a wedding of one of my Mum's friend's daughter and Anita was keen to go. I had no choice. I finally made it home at around 2.30 and rushed over to the wedding venue across town. It was the new Menara Felda this time. Luckily the traffic was light and the parking system was straight forward. I was already staring at the food by 3.30pm. Made it just in time.

A Long Sunday

I woke up this morning in glorious sunshine having a nice sleep. No phone calls until 7 am, when I went to the bathroom to brush my teeth, pray, check on the boys and slept again in front of the TV while checking on the news.

Learned that Liverpool got beat again. Always a good start to a Sunday!

When I finally left the room, it was just after 9. Had some food before starting the Weekly Sunday Morning Ward Round (tm). And it was a long one, adding to that a few new referrals and admission. It was close to 3 pm when I finally left the hospital.

Decided to take Anita out for a late lunch, and off we went to Pavilion for my favourite Arab food. This was followed by a trip to the flower shop which Anita had been talking about. She wanted some indoor orchids for the apartment now that the renovations were almost done. I didn’t realise that there was a warehouse close to our place which sold flowers in bulks. And they were really fresh, usually bought by flower shops from around town for profit. As you can imagine, things there were pretty cheap and the post-CNY business was slow at the moment.

Anita bought a few flowers but planned for more in the coming days once she knew where to put them.

Nothing beats a nice afternoon dipThe weather wasn't really clever, but it was breezy!Nice sunset when we left the oolChecking on the homework ...As soon as I reached home, Idlan asked if he could go to the pool. Without hesitation, it was time to get wet! We were in the pool until almost sundown .... A full day indeed. And now United would be playing at midnight and SuperBowl would be tomorrow morning. Though I have a full day planned, I might catch a glimmer or two of the match at work. Time to tuck the boys in bed .... After doing their homework of course.

Lining Them Up

So, my crazy stretch of calls were finally done. Looking forward for a few days off during the Thaipusam period. Might be doing some photography during that period if I have a partner. Alternatively, Anita might have an idea or two about a day out.

For this weekend, I would be catching up on some TV and paperwork. Hoping to get some proper sleep as well somewhere.

Something is Brewing

I was at IKANO just before the CNY break and I didn’t remember there was much change to the lower ground floor. Today, Anita wanted me to drive her to IKEA after work and I was surprise to see that the whole floor had been closed for refurbishment when I was walking around looking for dinner.

All the shops, including the small stalls lining the corridor were no where in sight. Instead there were covered by placards saying somebody “Swede” was taking over. And that could only be one thing .... IKEA was taking over IKANO!

Or at least the lower ground floor.

I was not sure how long the shops would be closed. And once it was opened, how it would be like. Or whether it would be IKEA after all. So, watch this space ...
