Monday at Publika

Even though it was located only 10 minutes away from our apartment, Public was not a common place for us to visit. And it mainly to do with parking. We were stuck in huge queues to get in and out and in the end, we never bordered going there again.

We were banking that the place would be deserted during this long weekend and we were right. There were not too many people there. The CNY decorations were being dismantled as well and quite a few of the ships were still closed for the holidays.

Anita wanted to buy some tidbits for the apartment for decorations and there were a few stores there selling cute items. One thing about the place was the food. There were tons of restaurants there, both in Public and the streets surrounding it. We ended up having Thai Boat Needles and the restaurant was located right in the end of the mall.

There were too many things that caught our eyes that in the end we ended up not buying much. We may head out there again in the future once we decided what we wanted to buy.

Calling it the Weekend

It had been a long weekend. With the Chinese New Year falling on a Friday, Monday was a public holiday. So, apart of doing morning ward rounds and taking referrals, I had some free time.

I decided for an early night tonight, getting ready for my call tomorrow. I had dinner before Maghrib. Then, I sat down in front of the TV watching the rest of Season 4 of House of Cards, until the season finale.

Time for rest then. Back to work tomorrow. The boys still have a couple of days off and would be keeping Anita occupied.

Plotting

So, it was the third day of Chinese New Year break. I will be on call tomorrow. It was just ward round this morning although I had to wait for a transfer from out of town. If that one came in late, it could spoil the rest of my day. Anyhow, it was good to plan. Anita was also interested in joining me for a quick outing.

So, where should we head to after my rounds? I asked if Anita wanted to join me for breakfast while I do the ward visit.

The city would still be quiet. I wanted to go to a new mall at Bukit Damansara and have a look at what it was about. Alternatively, we might just hang around at a cafe near Bukit Bintang. There were no good exhibits going on in town at the moment except for the gallery at Bank Negara. The problem was there might be a risk of it being closed today ....

Maybe we would go there after lunch.

Allan's Water

*This entry was originally written in September 2016*

This place was closed for renovations when we were here last December and it had am certainly received an uplift. There were new facilities built and the place looked spruced up compared to the last time we were there in 2012. It was basically a reservoir on top nod the hill which stored fresh water for the town. It was big enough for water activities and located about 10 minutes up hill from the town center.

We spend about 30 minutes hanging around there, feeding the fish and enjoying the fresh mountain air.

There were kayaks and pedal board for those interested as well as bumper balls as well. But Anita didn't approve of those...

Next to the lake was a small potting farm, which sold vegetables and flowers. Spend another few minutes there, taking photos of the nice flowers on display. The strawberries were off season when we visit and in was sure that would be a future attraction.

Nice time to spend the late afternoon before heading into town for early dinner. There was also a small tuck shop there for drinks and snack.

CNY Decorations at BTS

As one of the premier shopping destination in town, CNY decorations had always been a staple for Berjaya Times Square. For me personally, the place seemed out of the way to where I normally ventured.

As I had a couple of free hours, I thought I walked over there to see what was going on. It turned out that the made a good effort although not exactly original. It looked very similar to the decorations at NU Sentral back in 2015. That featured cartoon figurines - the one in Central were multiracial - and old school shops.

Maybe it was just coincidence. Good effort though, and I was sure it would attract a lot of visitors during the weekend. Luckily it was weekday and I was able to walk around without much hassle ...
